My wife and I have been visiting since Friday. Our daughter and her family were here Friday and left Sunday. My brothers two sons visited yesterday and today my sister arrived.
My wife was in the front yard talking to my sister when the neighbor to the south sent her son over with a nice yellow orchid and a card addressed to Family
The card had a nice hand written note of condolences .

Yep the neighbor thought mom had died and family was gathering for a funeral.

I'm still laughing and it happened 4 hours ago.

My wife did inform the neighbor and we understand how it happened, she did laugh when she knew no one was upset or offended .

They say the first 100 are the hardest.

My Fathers Mom wasn't doing so well when she turned 99. Dad keep getting calls from the Police that She was standing outside the factory at 0400 waiting for the gates to open so that day work seamstress could get in. That factory closed in the 50's. Eventually she had to be put in a Home since she would sneak out no matter the supervision of any of the children.

Uncle Chester passed within a week of his 102 ond Birthday. Except for the fact that he almost couldn't hear, he keep all his facilities till the day he passed.

Godspeed. Relish whatever time you and Mom have left. Y'all are Blessed.
 
I don't remember the details but your Congressman should be able to help with it. For the 100th birthday you can get a card from the White House and a flag that was flown over it. That would be worth having right now. IMO anyway.
 
Happy 99th birthday to your mom & God bless her. When my wife's mother was in an assisted living facility we played music she liked for her and she really perked up and would get a big smile on her face. After she had a stroke and hadn't spoken anything coherent afterward for weeks she heard "twist & shout" by Chubby Checker. She turned to me and said, "I used to do the twist", clearly, with a big smile on her face. I said, " I'll bet you did." and she giggled like a school girl.
