Not sure what to do with this #1 in .458

I have a number 1 Tropical .458 win mag and love it. I bought it used for $500. It has great character wear and probably served as a guide gun and was shot very little. I bought 150 pieces of new brass and a box of 405g lead billets. Those loaded with reloaded 7 make for extremely easy shooting...

What do y'all think about the .458 Lott?

To answer your question, the Lott us a lot of gun and will probably be tons of fun. I bought a a Number One Tropical .458 WinMag about 10 years ago, used. I load all power levels for it. I used mild loads and used it fir deer hunting one year, bagging a nice little buck at 65 yards. Crazy? No...

Anyone loaded .454 Casull with Unique

Not unique, but when I had my Alaskan my plinker load was 11g of Universal under a 250g JHP XTP. Chronod at 1050 fps out of the Alaskan.

    SR1911 break in time

I do the same as Pat. I use a light oil and work the slide as many as 500 times. I do the same with my revolvers too. Double action firing with plenty of oil smooths them out without burning up ammo. Not much better than a slick action.

    416 Rigby ?

I hear you on the Rigby. I had to have an elephant gun and found a nice used number one in 458 win mag. I nought 150 new Winchester brass and 20 new norms brass and dies. The Winchester brass were $25 per 50. I paid $500 for the gun. Downloaded its a really fun big bore plinker. Loaded up, it...

.454 casull load with Unique and 230gr rn

Well, I was working on loading those 3000 LSWC for my 45s and I thought I'd make up that 454 Casull sample load with a 200g LSWC with some 231. Since my 250g JHP XTPs are .452 I thought that the .452 LSWC meant for 45 autos should fit the case fine. It did. In fact crimping with a thumb nail...

    30-06 Plinker Bullet

I love trail boss for reduced rifle loads. It is very hard to screw up if you just load the case with powder to the base of the bullet. Do not compress. That is the max load. Starting load is just 10 percent reduction in powder. I use a full loads in my 30-006 with 139g lead billets meant...

    Ruger Alaskan front sight

Nice sight G2, So the hole needs to be drilled in the replacement sight, then re-use the drift pin? Do know of better designs out there for the Alaskan than the factory offerings? Where did you get yours or did you literally make your own? Thanks, DC

    Ruger Alaskan front sight

Ruger sells a replacement front sight or the Alaskan. It suggests gunsmith installation my be needed. Has anyone replaced their front sight with this factory sight and done the work by themselves? I've considered just painting the front sight but for $50 I wouldn't mind graving this sight...

.454 casull load with Unique and 230gr rn

Hey sweetwiiliams, ya, I hear ya. It's primarily an experiment to see how accurate the alaskan can be. Those LSWC bullets are for the 1911s. Merry Christmas to all.

.454 casull load with Unique and 230gr rn

Ya, Ya.........you guys are funny, but like I tell my kids while we're bonding with our snow shovels, the cold and snow keep the riff raff out. Don't have to worry about poisonous snakes or spiders either. Truck might ride like an old hay wagon for a few months of the year, but you can also...
