Quigley Down Under is one of my favorite movies. I love the long distance shooting with the Sharps rifle. I have an Accuracy International AW with .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor barrels. I love shooting that rifle. It is accurate (under 1/2" groups) at 100 yards and pretty easily grouping inside 5" at 600 yards with either caliber. Strictly a sniper rifle as it is too heavy to carry in the field.
That was "Enemy Mine" with Louis Gossett Jr. as the alien and Dennis Quaid as the human. I thought it was a pretty good movie, not outstanding, but it did keep my interest. Enemy Mine Trailer

Two dudes didn't have a baby. Lou Gossets alien character changes it's sex during the gestation period. Not an unknown biological fact for some. In fact some animals self fertilize.
It's all a pretty much based on Robinson Crusoe

What an effing RELIEF! Irks me that almost every TV series has at least one transexual and a practicing homosexual. I enjoyed "Black Sails" until the leading character, a swashbuckling pirate, was revealed to be a sexual deviant in love with the leading lady's husband.

Well, they didn't have sex if that's what you're thinking. In the story, the reptilian alien reproduces spontaneously. Supposedly, according to the story, they just become pregnant at a specific age.

Well, she's obviously welcome to her opinion, but since she's "in the business" she might be just a little likely to place more emphasis on the actors themselves rather than on the story being told. Movies are entertainment. You can find movies that interest you based on the plot involved, and if a favorite actor or two happen to be involved so much the better. JMHO

I agree with her take. People talk about watching a "John Wayne," "Cary Grant," or "Tom Cruise" movie, the story is really secondary.
Enemy Mine is a favorite of mine. A tale of brotherhood and friendship born from enemies but both seeing the good in each. Bicker like spouses but both liking and respecting each other recognizing that they needed each other to survive. When Davidge went looking for Zamis and the old Drak..."You are uncle." and the name of Willis Davidge was added to the family line of Jeriba.
Neither did Wayne. From behind the building, in the shadows, with a rifle. Actually that's probably closer to how "gunfights" occurred than shown in westerns.

The 540gr bullet mold is available in several variations. Paper patching relieved the issue of keeping grease in the grooves. At the Quigley shoot, the bucket is around 782yds, if I remember correctly? Yes it is hit many times by shooters of all ages with Vernier Sights! A 540gr bullet will go thru a 2x4 sideways at 1000yds. I've been in the Pits pulling targets when it happened!
You will never get the SD down low enough shooting Smokeless instead ov Black Powder. At 1000yds, FPS variation will walk your bullet up and down the target. Accurate Long Distance Shooting is a science besides a black art!

I shoot black powder shillouett at 500 meters pretty regularly with my Shiloh sharps. They made the guns for the movie. I haven't been to Forsyth for the shoot yet. I was going to go last year but we had pretty bad hail storms and I stayed home.
