Didn't know what section to put it in but it is a picture so I put it here:

Kimber Stainless II, 9mm (9 round capacity). I took this in a trade for a AR-15 but don't know if I want to keep it or sell it. I love the 1911 platform - how it feels, the balance in my hands, the look, and the weight doesn't bother me.

What say y'all? keep or sell.

Sorry for your loss.

I mean this seriously: "If your dad was in the military, have the military to give your dad a 21 gun - or 7 or whatever - salute at his graveside service. It's what I did for my WW II father (Navy - from 1942-45 in the Pacific theater, awarded 3 bronze stars). Great memory for dad's sister (my aunt), my sister and me. And it made a lasting, positive impression on my daughter and 2 sons.

Ron I posted "sell it" because you didn't seem sure about keeping it. To me, if you're not sure then trade it for something on your list you really want.

That being said, my Ruger Lightweight Commander in 9mm is my most favorite 1911. Even sold my full size SR1911 in 45 cause it never got shot.

Johnny-Baseball - He is going to get a military salute at the burial service, He (and I) were/are life members of the American Legion and I think it is they who will perform it. Not quite sure though, the funeral director (and she is good) is handling all that, but he will have a military gun salute.

I will definitely bring it to the East Coast Gathering.

I think, that unless something comes up that I really want (gun wise), and I need to raise some funds, I'll probably keep it. I really do like the feel of it in my hand and I like the 1911 platform.

Naah, you don't want to keep it, and you definitely wouldn't want to foist something like that off on someone for money. Just send it to me and I'll dispose of it honorably. ;)

A 1911-9mm is cute at the range. You can shoot it a bunch for cheap.. That's reason enough to keep it. Or, if you're carrying a 1911 for business, for nearly the same weight, a .45 ACP cartridge makes much more sense. For that reason, sell it.

Your choices are now narrowed down.

I've also gone the 9mm route in a 1911. And it was only a temporary detour before I found the correct map.

If it were me , every time I fired it I'd feel like it should be a .45

There are so many awesome choices for 9mm pistols......CZ75s, Hi Powers, Beretta 92's, S&W 5906's, etc

Maybe you can get a .45 barrel and drop it in to make a "convertible"

Does it fulfill a role not already covered a dozen times in your collection? I collect guns to fill a role. At most I might get 2 or 3 of a particular model that I like to distribute where I might need them. If I started that 20 1911's, 30 Mosins, a dozen Garands crap I wouldn't be able to afford motorcycles and boats. Airplanes keep tempting me but that's a whole nother thing. I probably have over a dozen guns that have been supplanted in their previous roles by more modern options but are still more than capable.
