I'm delighted with my 40c. I had a chance to take it to the range yesterday and put a box of ammo through it. Totally reliable so far. The trigger pull is great and surprised me a few times. Recoil is a bit snappy as might be expected with a .40. I recommend it.
I had previously carried a P3AT for many years. Then I bought a Bodyguard. And then the problems started and resulted in two trips back to S&W and they never did solve all the problems. Many people have had great results with the Bodyguard but a lot of people have had trouble with the trigger...
Always. When the chips are down there simply isn't time to rack and chamber. Most defensive encounters take place at very close ranges and the bad guy can be on you in a heartbeat.
I found the CCI shot loads to be woefully inadequate for poisonous snakes and instead went out and bought a Judge which is a sure kill on the first shot every time.
Early on in the retail process the best place to find mags is from the manufacturer. As time goes by the big distributors like CDNN and Midway will certainly have them. It's just a matter of supply catching up with demand. My trigger is fine... no complaints... I'm taking it out on my range...
This morning I ordered several extra mags for my SR40c from the Ruger store. Their first email confirmed the order. This evening I got a second email informing me that my mags were on back order. Soooo.... the wait is on. Anybody else had any luck?
Yes, the magazines are made in Italy by Mec-Gar, a huge mag making firm that furnishes mags to all the big pistol manufacturers here in the states and Europe. It's simply the best mag on the market and you should always buy Mec-Gar for any and all semi-auto pistols.
I saw a Speer .44 mag loaded round where the bullet obviously caught the edge of the case mouth and peeled it back like a banana during seating. What you have is a defective round of ammo... it's not the fault of your pistol.
If the Mk II mag doesn't fit then try reversing the magazine follower button to the other side of the mag. This is a common issue with the Standard Model (pre Mk I).
I like everything about mine EXCEPT I can't hit the broad side of a barn with it. I thought perhaps it was my grip or trigger control but I've had three other shooters try it and they can't do any better. Looks like I'll be contacting Ruger on this one.
