One of my neighbors ( don't know which one )has been burning up a lot of ammo in a variety of firearms for the past couple months. Every weekend and sometimes during the week. Usually goes on for a couple hours. Not that I object; his money, his property and he's far enough away that it's not a noise issue. I'm just wondering if he's practicing for 3 gun competition or prepping for Zombies.

Anyway, I'm not inclined to go poking my nose into somebody else's business. Folks around here just don't do that without an invitation. :)

Maybe the "End of the Worlders -- We Are All Going To Die" people have finally convinced him.
We have the same situation across the highway at a house up on a hill.
Hear a lot of shooting every so often. Sounds like they are having a great time.
Just wish they'd invite me........

If I didn't hear my neighbors shooting I'd be checking on them. Common sound around these parts in about any direction, not a noise issue for me as all but one are quite a distance away.

Back in 2004 I moved to a small farm outside town. One Saturday morning I heard the distinctive sound of automatic weapon fire echoing from somewhere within say, a mile. My first reaction was "Wow I wonder who's doing that?". Not fear or concern. I actually just wondered how much that string cost whoever had the gun with the fun switch.
Don.

If you know your neighbor,,, maybe when you bump into them,, you could POLITELY ask about what kind of firearms he enjoys. You may find a new shooting buddy! Lots more folks looking into competition type shooting.

Some can think what they want about the rural flyover areas, but when I hear gunfire in my locality I just smile 'cause I know someone is just having fun. That, or they're taking care of a killer possum or something.

Just about everyone who has a few acres shoots around here, me included, but not usually this much is all. :)

And..................

Why do you care?

I don't. Just a little curious is all. :) And thought it might be an interesting contrast to what we usually hear about shooting in more populated areas, or high rent places where the neighbors try to shut down a range, etc.

Our semi-rural subdivision sits within a flood control levee. The homes across the street from me have the levee at the back of their property. Both the cop across the street and someone several houses down use it as a convenient backstop.

We Do hear a little bangity bangity bang around our neighborhood here; For a while the neighbor next door had an M-1 and would be out shooting. Lots of property across the road and I hear them shooting now and then too.

When I lived in Fredrickson, WA just south of Tacoma we'd often hear some automatic fire on summer nights. It happened usually on a Thursday evening. Mighty inconsiderate of the shooter. He never invited us to participate.
