This question may have been posted before. But I thought it might help to know what we are all looking for to add to our collections. Mine at the moment is KMK512GC (Ruger model 0188) being produced for Big Rock Sports from 2002 to 2003. 225-04418 to 225-31716 sn range. Been trying to find one for a few years.

Well YES it has been asked a few times....BUT hey a guys "GRAIL" can change with time...I got a few left and hope I never find them all....I mean a guys gotta have something to look for or why go to the gun shows

I will play though...an all blue factory RSSE and a Spanish RSSE would be nice....

And then I need one 10" 357 FT box to make my life complete.....

Give me time as I am sure I can come up with a few more "GRAILS"   RR.

4" S&W Highway Patrolman

Stainless 6" Security Six

Blued snubby Speed Six

Stainless snubby Service Six

...... ah what the heck ...... who am I kidding ..... about ANY Six Series gun.

I agree with Rod, the "grail" can and does change with time and each of us has their own, or maybe not? some don't care, I'v e had more than my share go through my hands and for the most part ,get rid of them. A couple have found their way here , and over to my wife, but even now, she really does not care, as she is content, happy with and has fond memories of the ones that remain, she does NOT, nor want, to "have them all......"
to ME, the "grail" would be ANY one of the first serial numbered guns made, not a prototype, but the final ones meant for the public, and start with #1, or "maybe " number 2, or 3 ( and NO, not ANY prefixed version) yes the 2 digit guns are a neat thing, but there are still 89 , 2-digit guns of each., and ONLY 9 single digit guns,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, 8)

you make your "grail" whatever YOU want it to be, then go for it. :)

Gosh where does one start. Reminder to those who don't know. .357's only. Got to stay on a narrow path. Case hardened gun, engraved one, Type 5 Xr3-red flattop, 3XX, 4XX, 5XX, 6XX BKH3'S. And Dan is right, a single digit would be the "Holy Grail". At least that is the chase today!!!!!! Makes me proud to know I have something Rod doesn't. I think you been one upped twice today. You are slipping! Whoops forgot a .357 S gun.

Would love to find a cheap Colt Detective Special onto which I can screw the genuine Colt 3" barrel I bought about 20 years ago.

Also would love to run across a S&W 28 6". Had one years ago, had to sell it due to poverty need at the time, and I've missed it almost every day since.

I'm in the mood to shoot for the stars. My Holy Grail gun is a Gatlin Gun. I think one in .22lr would be a blast. Ed

I have to concur on the Grail shifting & never being "complete." I, like RR do NOT want to ever stop looking as the chase is part of the fun!
For me,, there is always a long list of guns I want to add to my collection.

And, just to poke a little fun,,, eveled, I know where a 22 LR Gatling Gun lives, and it was the one given to the Gatling family when they were produced. Full documentation. And,, I can shoot it if I wish,,,!

East German,North Korean and North Vietnamese SKS.These are the toughies in an SKS collection.

speaking of any "grail" guns, we have access to a set of old model Blackhawks .30 carbine and there are three of them ,consecutive numbers starting at #9,10, and #11...they can be yours, if the price is right.
All brand new in the boxes...................hhhhmmm

So I guess Ruger Number 3 SN 130-50009 would hold no interest even though it is a true single digit gun.

I was ecstatic when I found it

YOU BET.......... THE #3 SN RUN STARTED AT 130-50001 8)

I know what your saying, certain models started with MORE numbers or a "prefix", but as I noted for ME (and certainly my wifes opinion or feeling, she wants the 1,2 or 3 digitis to be just that 1,2 or 3 digits...she has a LW in the box, serial #200470 and she does NOT consider it to be 3 digits??? go figure,,,but now the .30 carbine guns we have access to are just that #9 (John Amber) #10 (Leonard Brownell) and # 11 (Mr Horlick) are indeed just that and would be 'grail" ?? guns.............but not being .22 caliber, of NO interest to her. agin, go figure................
I would guess her "grail" guns are her "all blue" RSSE, the two tone RSSE and the Red Eagle Jerred engraved guns, and good enough for her.........

DAN...............Ahhhhhhhhhh--haaaaaaa.......Pls enlighten me/us on the Red Eagle Jerred engravings........I still suspect I have one but it is a later gun. When Jerred "The Young" offered his Father's note/receipt book on Ebay, I asked about the/this gun.....He, rather crisply and nastily(I thought) told me he was too busy to look, and "Why don't you just buy the notebook?"(For $500 or such)Oh Herb, you are so unlike your Father, One of Our Idols............... 8)

I can understand that. I wish my # 3 was stamped 9 and not 130-50009 even though they mean the same thing

Made my "gotta get" list years ago and have taken care of all but one. That last remaining one isn't a biggie for me. It's pricey for starters - $2000+/- and nothing I'd be able to shoot to it's potential. It's a Sig P210. Yup, not even a Ruger. Have all those I'd need.

+1 on this I've fought off the urge to buy one of the machine your own kits with the raw castings. Got a mill and lathe in the garage so that's not a problem - only the time and finding the large quanity of 22 that'll be needed.

If you ever do it, let me know. I'll bring plenty of ammo to break it in. :D

As a serious collector, if you don't have a Holy Grail(s), you are not serious, or will not be in the game for long. Or, you are just an Accumulator.
I can relate that in my early Winchester collecting days, I had a fairly narrow focus on my collecting interest. It got to the point that I believed it impossible to have something to find. I sold them all in 1986.
With Rugers, there always seems to be something to hunt for.
The Ruger No.1 rifle, which is my primary interest, seems to have a near unlimited number of rifles to hunt for, and I have a fairly narrow focus in my interests!! I will run out of $$ and time before there is nothing to look for. My interest is the non prefix caliber/configurations that I do not have; very low serial numbered rifles, Factory A. A. White engraved presentation rifles, any other A. A. White engraved No.1's(only found 2) and any No.1's owned and used by notable personages. Anyone with any leads; I will pay a finders fee.

My Holy Grail is a M77 in 300 H&H! Only two made! One of these Day's it will show up..... I hope!

There was supposed to be a small run of these made a couple years ago. I got VERY excited. Had calls into a distributor immediately and had the first two they got in. The wait began. Quite some time passed so I inquired. Someone kinda messed up and didn't realize they required a different action so it wasn't gonna happen. :( At least it saved me $1000.

I'm with Hawkeye#28 for my personal Holy Grail. And I agree with Street as well. My next Grail gun is the one model or type I don't have yet.

Unfortunately I have more holy grail guns than I will ever be able to afford. But I guess if I had to narrow the list down to just a few I would want some more guns with serial number 200. My want list in order of importance to me is;

1. The 44 Flattop
2. The Hawkeye
3. The .41 mag
4. The .30 carbine
5. The flat bolt

I would appreciate any information regarding any Rugers with serial number 200 in any condition. Even if they are not for sale I would still like to find them. Thanks, Mike.

The 300 H&H is a Long Action & a Magnum Action while they were talking about making them on the Hawkeye Rifle format I was wondering if they would because it would have to be a new action cast. Wish they would have followed through! IMHO

I also would like to find the 2nd Super Blackhawk Prototype! Elmer Keith has a picture of it in his book...... Since I wishing on a star on a cloudy night!

Not a Ruger ... but for a very long time I've been looking for a nice 1954 Browning A5 Light 12 and/ or Sweet 16 , vent rib and choked either improved cylinder or skeet. The search continues

I often ask myself why I sell my guns, especially some that could be in my holy grail category. I don't have a good answer. But, then it comforts me to think that some of my guns just happen to be on other folks' holy grail list.

WAYNO.
