At work the regular trash removal man on my shift is off for a few days on vacation. The job is being rotated between other workers in the job classification. 2 of the people filling in have no problem doing the job.

The 3rd was whining about having to do trash removal and someone said "Come on, put some muscle into it".

That was all that was said and the kid turns around and claims sexual harassment...

I will be interested to see the outcome but it blows my mind that someone would think they were being harassed by a simple statement like that.

My very first thoughts also. When I went through basic at Fort Knox prior to each meal you were required to do 5 pull ups. For every one you didn't do you had to do ten pushups. Some guys ate last every meal. This 'person' would starve.

My dad worked construction for 50 years. He was working on a job and they told a kid to get a haircut because the equipment they were around was dangerous to long hair. He refused so dad and 2 other guys cut his hair with a set of tinsnips.

Or gave it right back. Military, longshoring , shipyard and the oilfield. If you couldn’t give as good as you got you better just quit before they canned you.

I would say that if was a girl no matter what ethnicity and the person talking to her was a man She has a damn good case that will probably win.

When I worked in industry I was always very careful about what I said to women. One day they might laugh and the next day be offended by the same remark so caution was the best route to take always with them.

Women seldom want advice they just want you to listen to them complain as it makes them feel better. This statement came right from many of the women workers. Just have a concerned look on your face and say nothing or as little as possible.and nod always in agreement with them and they will think you are the ideal work companion.

If you speak to women like you speak to men you will find yourself in the unemployment line very quickly. The above case about taking out the trash was a classic example of speaking to a woman like you were speaking to a man (assuming the person in question was a woman that was complaining)

.....and that type of mindset is, in part, exactly why we have the problem nowadays of some people being offended over the slightest little word, phrase, look, etc. that they or others (such as yourself) have deemed that they must find offensive....when such things should never be construed as being so. The thin-skinned & those who've decided to be perpetual victims should never be coddled. The world's a tough place. Everyone should have a helmet. I've had mine since I was a kid, most others have too.

I guess the company I work for is a little different. We've got three women in the office.

One often calls herself "Big Booty Judy" and will tell you to bite her butt if you give her a hard time, including having told the CEO before. She's alot of fun, even if she will tell you to go F yourself.

The other is a female kickboxer that will tell any of the guys that they can either get tough or she'll lone them some panties.

The new girl is really fun. She asked me one day if I was looking at her butt (it's really nice). Of course I said "No". Her reply was,"Why not? Everybody else does and I'll have you know I spent a lot of money on these jeans just because they do make my butt look even better! If you ain't queer, then you must not be looking cause you are too old!" I really like her. She fits in with our band of misfits
