I don't know how... I was looking at something linked here in a thread and this side add on the link showed this really nice looking pull over hoody sweat and listed a "going out of business" sale.... I liked the look and clicked on it and it seemed this clothing company out of New York was closing and clearing all their inventory after being in business for many years.. there's a picture of some older guy and his wife (don't know which was Lester and which was jones) say how sorry they were to all their dedicated customers to have to close. I looked up the price of the hoody and ordered one and then decided to look at other items ... really nice light jacket and so I ordered it too... both for less than a total of a hundred bucks.... this should have told me something but it is a going out of business / clearing the inventory sale right? Interesting that when I was looking, nothing was already out of stock..... So a day or so later I get an email my order has been shipped... and I can track it.... next day I look at the tracking to see where it is coming down from New York..... what the heck... it is traveling across main land China to to a port of exist.... last time I checked it had come into Atlanta and then was over in Colorado and some embroidery place I guess putting Lester and Jones label on it. I'm still trying to figure out where the tariff is on this sale?

So much for the slow boat from China.....boat seems dang fast and tracked when it most likely is a fake add....why on earth would you click on a add like that? Lestr and Jones are a fence type online retailer that claims to have a warehouse in NY......nope. Customers who do actually receive something do not receive what they ordered. The pics are not accurate and the quality is nowhere near what the pic suggests. Good luck trying to return it if you do receive it.

Remember in the back of comic books and magazines you would see the adds for X-Ray vision glasses, Sea Monkeys, that submarine and other stuff? Looked great in the pics...but when you got it......yikes.....

Here's a fake AI generated Elon Musk video asking you to invest into his new crypto currency.
AI has made it possible to fool people into purchasing things based on "personal testimony" you can tell it's fake because Elon Musk stutters when he speaks.

From where have you guys heard so much about this company? I've never heard of them until this thread.

I read a ORC article that included various types and MO's of online retail fraud. Cases that included "retailers" like the one in question in this thread. I won't name them, but lets just say the picture of the couple is familiar.

Don't click pop ups. Don't fall for "80% Off"....."Only Until 11:59PM"....."Everything Must Go"......IF you receive what you ordered it most likely is not what was pictured, and very low quality.

This particular "retailer" is promoting "Sale Ends At 11:59PM"........really? every night? It will always say that. It also states "Free Fast Shipping From Our New York Warehouse".....really? They don't have a New York warehouse. They will tell you to hurry because after 11:59 PM items won't be back in stock....nothing is ever out of stock....guess how long they have been going out of business and having the sale that ends before 11:59 PM.....a very long time.

Yep, the thing is, there are SO many utterly STUPID people on FB, (I mean RETARD level STUPID), that buy all that crap at face value.

Count me in that group... at least when I told my wife about this that's what she said to me.... and I know many of you already had me there.

I sent them two emails... first one telling them they got me and then when I went to check the status of the shipping could not sign in or get a link to the Chinese shipping company.... and sent a second... I did get a reply from customer service.....this is just part of the reply:

"We understand your frustration, and we sincerely apologize for any confusion caused by the shipping process. While our marketing may highlight a certain aesthetic, we want to clarify that due to operational constraints, our local warehouses — including those in the U.S. — are currently unavailable or undergoing maintenance. As a result, many orders are temporarily being fulfilled from our international facilities."

I'm going to wait until I get the order and see what I got before replying to "Joel" and tell him what I discovered about the company and what I think he should do with his job.

What is an ORC article? And why won't you name them? Is our security clearance not high enough?

blume, I have a very nice bridge in NYC for sale. will post pics soon. accept all forms of payment, but don't send cash, there are thieves out there..!!!

J. ;)

Don't have any desire to own a bridge in New York City,..... I grew up here in S.C. and have absolutely no desire to visit there let alone own a bridge there.... now if you had one here in S.C.....but really, seems some yankees came down here to Greenville a goodly number of years ago and convinced the powers that be to build a toll road from I-85 down to I-385 for a short cut from town to go toward Columbia.... some kind of northern idea to make money... not sure exactly how much it has lost in the last 20 or so years but it is a good bit. As for the pigs in a poke.... I've got more than my fair share of them.... but I am learning... fixing to send a cheap camera lens back to Amazon.... total waste of time and money..... paid about a hundred dollars for it.... the cheapest equivalent Nikon has is around 6 thousand.... then again that probably creates a whole new level of "being taken."

I stay as far away from Facebook linked ads as I can. Actually, I’m staying away from Facebook for the most part. Never shopped at Temu or that type of place either. So many places “going out of business”. Bunch of scammers. It will be interesting to see what you actually get, Blume. If you even get anything.

I’ve gotten to the point that I research any company before I purchase. BBB, online reviews, complaints. It’s amazing how many legit looking ads are just pure scams. I also won’t deal with any website that doesn’t give a physical address or phone number. You would be surprised at the number of places that only have an submittable form or a chat option under “contact”. And- I always use credit card as I feel that gives me some level of recourse.
