Great pix! I love flickers except when they try out their beaks on a tin roof or roof gutter....sounds too much like a PK on high rate for me!

Ever watch one eat ants? They lick them up by the tongue full!

Mike, they can be noisy critters when they're drumming.

Yes, they can gobble up ants (and termites to).

Very interesting birds. Not particularly rare but not all that common around here either.

See 'em up here on my feeders quite often. They're the only bird the Blue-J's give way to at the feeder. Well, other than one big Dove we have that thinks itself to be an Eagle.
And so it goes...
