WOW! In reflecting on those photos: that meeting was held in the main Holiday Inn which was across the street from HI's world headquarters. That Inn has been demolished, Holiday has moved out of Memphis, and the Commercial Appeal is no longer a Memphis newspaper.

Have you graduated from the old-style "cup and saucer" hold to a more modern, secure grip?

I'm not too sure, but if so, it had to be an old Flat Top .357 Magnum Blackhawk, as I only had about three or four handguns at that time. Those days, ca. 1971, were pretty lean times for me. Scary lean, in fact.

I've killed more deer with my Kentucky Pistol than with my Kentucky Rifle. Inside 50yds if I was tucked in the branches of a pine tree the pistol was easier to use quietly than that big smokepole. They were all I used for about 30years for deer hunting.

Indeed I have! At that time, 1971, I had yet to be introduced to the .44 Magnum. The stoutest I shot in those days was a modified Colt New Service in .44 Special.

My Pap Pap got a Dan Wesson 44 and one of those crossbody holsters when the rifle started getting heavy. I still have it and most of his hunting guns. Even one of my Great Grandfather's shotguns. I'm working on who from the next generation to pass them down to. When I take my Grandchildren hunting with them I can connect 6 generations. Even the old Damascus Double with brass pyrodex loaded shells. I'm planning on my Granddaughter catching her first fish with my Pap Pap's old knucklebuster baitcaster. I'm only curating the family jewels. Guns fishing rods and tools. I spent most of my career using a pair of hoof nippers and hammer my blacksmith Great Grandfather made in the Sheet Metal trade.

Wow Bob you sure looked good way back then. And just imagine it only took you 11 years to build that middle section around you, from that 71 picture until that photo of you and the BH in 82. :oops: Those lean times must have improved.

I'm an hour or so outside DC in Maryland. Needless to say if someone noticed my firearm and didn't mistake me for a cop(Even a wore out retired one) I would probably be face planted, cuffed and disarmed and ask questions later for an hour or so.
