XS Big Dot sights on GP100.........

Still trying to figure out how these things work I guess I'll have to take the gun out and shoot it to see what's up with them. From just playing around wth the gun, they seem very good for close range snap shooting. I figured my 6" blue GP was ideal for these sights, since I was looking for a dedicated HD gun and also something to wear while I work around my property this summer for "critter defense".

The front sight was a perfect fit, and the rear notch dropped right in but no longer "clicks" with the windage screw. No big deal, once I get it zeroed I plan to mark where the white hash mark is on the rear sight with a pencil, and Red Loktite the rear screw.

XS sights are great sights, but you need to go shoot them to familiarize yourself with them. I'm about to put a set on my GP. Already have them on several autos.

I am just wondering if these sights are OK on a 6" gun or if they would be better on a 4", since they seem to take sight radius out of the equation........I'll play with them on this 6" for a while, and down the road, I may move them to the .327 4" GP I at some point plan to buy, orat least get another set of them

It took me a while to get used to them, but now it's easy. Wouldn't say they are for surgical shooting, but they are also more accurate than I thought they could be.

I've been thinking about getting these sights for my Alaskan.

I still haven't had time to try these out, but I agree, they definitely are not the sights to use for a 25 yard Bullseye match 8)

They seem to be close to ideal for an Alaskan, since that gun is designed for close range large animal defense and if you do have to use it for it's intended purpose, you're not gonna be drawing a fine bead but making a quick snap shot.

I realized the same thing with my Meprolight sights on my 4" GP, these are combat sights not target sights.

stantheman86 you are over thinking this. You did good getting the small dot. You are right about getting out and shooting the sights. I suggest from the low ready with the six inch and holstered for the others.

How much double action shooting do you do? They are great for it.

I have this 6" GP100 set up for DA shooting, I added a set of the gold colored springs, I think Wilson Combat, that smoothed up the DA pretty well and the gun was slick out of the box as new. If I could get my hands on a DAO GP100 hammer I would think about installing it in the GP 8)

I had the opportunity to spend some time at the range with some folks from XS and shot various guns with their sights on them. While it does take a little getting used to, I like them. I think they are great for fast acquisition, especially in self defense situation.

Their lever gun sights (the old Emerson AO sights) are awesome on a working gun.
