There is a word game I’ve been reading about in the news, several different places. It isn’t an app that you download, and it’s a daily challenge sort of thing. You get 6 tries to guess a word. They give you the directions when you go to the website. Real basic, and no advertising on the site. I think that’s why it is so popular.

Here is the link to the website. I’ve played it for about a week, and can usually get the word in less than 6 tries. The word today took 5 tries.

Sort of. If the letter is grey, it isn’t in the word. If the letter is green, it’s in the word in the correct spot. If the letter is Yellow, it’s in the word, just a different location. That’s it.

Not sure I understand. From that it appears that it is supposed to be a word that starts with "w" and has an "i" in it somewhere other than the second letter?
And you try to guess which word?

Here's an article with some hints and instructions.

I'm really not good with word games.Just not wired that way.
I play Sudoku sometimes and enjoy that form of frustration.
Is Jeopardy the TV word game where they turn over the letters,
buy a vowel, ect.?
I usually get the phrase about 5 seconds after the winner announces it.
That's on a good day.

Yes, you try and guess the word, for example, I start with vowels, like the word “about” with three vowels, and then go from there.

I missed it today, last guess I said Jerky…oh well.

Being good or not good at something is different for everyone. I’m trying to teach my daughter this. Last week she got a 64% on a math test. But you should hear her play the violin!

It's actually pretty fun. I got yesterday's in 5 guesses, today's in 4. My luck is sure to change

If you want to do more than one per day, here's Wordle's archived puzzles. There should be about 221 of them. Click the link and you might have to X out the 1st image.

Kevin,
Thanks for introducing us to a fun mental challenge.

No problem. It’s so weird, again this game was in the news today. I saw it referenced in three different news articles. Something about Wordle and the Food Network.

But it is fun. Thanks for the archives, Cholo. Now I can play more than once a day.

I’m sorry to be the purveyor of bad news, but if you’ve been playing and enjoying Wordle, the online word game that’s gone super viral, you should know that it’s just been bought by the New York Times.

Yep,, I heard it was bought by the Wall Street Journal. And of course, it'll be free at first,, but later on,, expect fees.

Definitely expect fees. Again this game is in the news. The New York Times paid a “low seven figures” for the game. They will want their money back.

My wife pays $4 to read the Times. But the other day she found some pancake recipe she wanted to try. They wanted even more money for it.

What a bunch of greedy so-and-so’s.

In less than six months, Wordle has gone from a gift to a viral sensation, to being an official part of The New York Times portfolio.

I stand corrected. I heard it on the radio & thought it was funny that the Wall Street Journal was buying an internet game.

I think that I will pass this game along to my crossword solving wife and just stick with my daily Sudoku.

It's funny. I know quite few couples that do puzzles. All have the same pattern. Her- crossword, Him- sudoku. (must be something about that 10,000 words a day thing... )

I'll have to look into wordle
