Winter can't come fast enough for me.

I'm sure getting sick of these 105 degree days. Even when I have to go outside to do something. I have to wear mosquito netting on my head and arms. I keep getting bitten by something that leaves a hard lump bigger than a quarter and very hot. I have a lot of weeds to take care of on 5 acres.

I love winter so I can work bug free outside and then come inside and head for my recliner and a nice cozy blanket and chill out with a good movie. How about you guys?

I live in Buffalo, NY. We get lots of bad press because of the snow in the Winter. Truth is, the snow only lands in the hills, where the ski resorts are. Our Summer time heat has NEVER exceeded 99 degrees. Our Spring and Falls are awesome.

We also don't get floods, hurricanes or tornadoes.

I have traveled to Arizona and S Cali for my job. I was offered a job there i the past. I chose a smaller salary to stay in NY.

I'm not a believer of this man made global warming crap but I've lived in SoCal for 60 years and it never used to get this hot for such extended periods.

We have a lot of planes leaving those chem trails in this area.

It’s got to be pretty bad for me to use a headnet. Never wore it on my arms. I was on a river one time, here in Alaska, the mosquito larvae was so thick floating down the river, it looked like oil. Difference in that area was you didn’t have the comforts of home. Particularly a toilet. You are out in the wild.

As a result when you have to pull your pants down you better already better have mosquitoe repellent on your hands to immediately put on your ass. I wore a head net on that trip. :)

I’m not sure what it is, I can get a mosquito bite and it doesn’t affect me. My wife and I would lay in our camper at night, I could lay there uncovered and not get any bites, she would be covered up and get plenty.

White socks are way worse than mosquitoes. Lucky you don’t have those.

I did some traveling when I was younger. Some trail hiking, mountain climbing, camping, etc. A friend and I were in Idaho one time in July, I think. We were hiking and planning on camping and fishing or whatever. We were flatlanders from Nebraska. We were fresh meat for the mosquitos, I remember one time passing my hand thru my hair to work out sweat and all I felt were mosquitos. We got about three miles into the 'wilderness', then ran all the way back and got a room where we could shower, etc. Outback h**l yes!

I still have some Ole Time Woodsman fly dope. I use it on my hat and boots. It's general all purpose repellent. It will ruin any clothes you get it on but it works.

Wife and I did a fly in fishing trip to Ontario one year and took plenty of repellent so the skeeters didn't bother too much but I believe it acted as an attractant for the biting flies. Those things hurt!!!!

I was born in Trenton New Jersey so I do remember the "Fall" season. Here in SoCal, we have two seasons, hot and cold.

Look like it's now going to change to "too hot and too cold".

But what really gets me is no one makes folks live in these inhospitable areas. So i have a suggestion for the complainers. Shut up and move. Of course then they’d likely complain that the new place doesn’t have seasons like “home”. Better suggestion pick up your cell phone and call someone who cares.

Years ago when I was a young guy, I worked three summers in 'middle of nowhere' SW Montana. I learned pretty quick that the flies (deer flies? horse flies?) could & would bite right through your shirt. So, I often wore a hooded sweat shirt, even when the weather was hot, to keep the dang flies from bleedin' me dry. Beautiful country, though, and (back then at least) chock full of elk, moose, and even saw a grizzly or two!

I think it’s been hot everywhere. We had 105 today and that was our third highest recorded heat for August. I don’t mind it out in the shade especially if there’s a breeze as long as the humidity hasn’t gotten above 80. But at night if you go out, you get bombarded by mosquitoes and can’t stay out long. And I can’t stand the oily feel of having mosquito repellent. I’ll take spring up until about mid may as my favorite time of the year

For centuries, the only humans living in the southwest were native to the area(didn't know any other option), willing to accept the environment in the pursuit of financial gain(miners, ranchers, oil industry), or basically so desperate for a place to live they took what was available(that's where the old jalopy died and they were stuck). The swamp cooler made things a bit better until full on air conditioning of nearly everything made life more bearable.
I've never been in that area during summer mostly because I don't like the heat (even if it is DRY heat). I certainly wouldn't live there of my own choice. It seems illogical to choose to live there and complain about the heat??

I understand the satire. But on a serious note- if you take away places that are too hot, too cold, too humid, too many tornadoes/hurricanes, add in the necessity for a job and good medical care, and then filter what’s left with the requirement of being gun-friendly…there’s just about nothing left. I went through this last fall…

Hurricane Season is more like the Jacksonville Jaguar's seasons, it's hit or miss. Some years are great and other years suck. :)
