Tidy little thumper!

Ruger already came up with the sweetest little big bore ccw piece - there's only one problem: it's single action. I'm talking about the bird's head 3.5" bbl New Vaquero in 45ACP.

45ACP has been proven to function well in a revolver, and the defensive ammo offerings beat the hell out of 44 Special and 45 Long Colt in price, availability, and variety.

If they could make a similar gun in double action, it'd be a killer. They could even shrink the cylinder diameter with a five shot. 45ACP with its low pressures doesn't need a lot of steel in the cylinder walls. With 45ACP's performance out of a short barrel, I would have picked this fantasy gun over my SP101.

i had the Smith 696 for a little while. 3" 44 special with 5 shot cylinder, but Eaglestroker twisted my arm and took it from me. ;D

the problem i had with DA 45 ACP's is the need for moon clips, unless you have a complicated ejector rod like the Charters use. Moon clips are a pain in the butt to fool with, and dont carry in the pocket very well.

i much prefer single action in 45 ACP (i own two so far) due to the ejector rod. it isnt "as quick" to load and unload and shoot for the average shooter, but it aint bad. And anyone who has watched a cowboy action match will tell you that with practice, you can get pretty quick loading and unloading them, and, well, even shooting them...
