Let's find out. PoBoy does a test with a cow bone. The Velocitor is a 40gr. HP advertised at 1435fps.

A: It ain't going 1435 fps from a 6" barrel

B: Was that bone cooked first?

Hmmm... :?

Looked raw to me.

Advertised fps is usually from a 22" test barrel. BBTI lists this round at 1401 fps from a Kimber 22" barrel, and 1181 from a 5.5" Ruger Mark 1 barrel in their "Real World" tests. http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com/22.html .

But still a good performing round. :)

The difference is the flesh/muscle/sinew that bullet would have to travel thru to get to the bone.

& agreed , don`t think he got the fps as advertised out of a 6" tube.

Still, fun was had by all. I like it when people keep thinking, keep trying. Ears n eyes, then go find sumpin' to shoot !

Yep. PoBoy has some pretty fun video's. Zombie heads, etc.

I wish I could find some more Velocitor tho. I'm down to about 40rds. :(

Just a note, in case anyone was wondering, my intent with posting this was not to try and compare .22lr with any larger caliber. But, just to give anyone who is recoil sensitive and is stuck with a .22lr a little confidence in it's ability. The Velocitor is probably the best .22lr of the bunch if you can't carry anything with more punch than a .22. My wife for example, so this is what I keep her SR22 loaded with. 1 in the pipe, 10 in mag, so all she has to do is flick the safety off and shoot. She knows it won't knock anyone down, but she's a good shot so might get in a couple headshots up close, or at least make an intruder wish he was somewhere else.

They are a right hasty lil round alright. I remember chronoing a 36 gr .22 WMR version at 1340 fps in my 6.5" OMS6...

They also expand well with good penetration (in ballistic gel) without coming apart, which is a plus.

I chronographed the Velocitors in a semi auto with 4.2" barrel and got an average of 1035 fps--about 100 fps faster than WW Wildcats in the same gun. 8)

They're not very "speedy" from a 2" revolver. We shot some into water filled milk jugs and the bullets penetrated into the 3rd one before stopping basically undamaged( except the one that tumbled).

A word to the wise. Test fire them in a revolver before carrying them. They will lock my LCR22 up solid on the first shot. Velocitars function OK, but are hard to eject.

Interesting. Haven't had any problem with them in my Sig 1911-22, SR22P, or old Savage 6a. Run well in all three.

Thanks for the link. I'm a big fan of Velocitor, it's the most accurate hunting ammo in my 10/22 and my CZ Scout. I clocked it at 1388 fps from the 16" Scout, but just 1050 from a 4-5/8" Mark II. FWIW Mini Mags clock 1210 in the CZ and 1025 in my pistol, so the Velocitors definitely seem to be designed for rifles.

Here's a high speed video of Velocitor hitting gel from a 10/22.

I'm glad I stocked up when I did.
