About six months ago I approached my pastor and told him that our church had ministries for widows but nothing for widowed men. So he countered, "Why don't you start one?"
Well, we've been meeting on the third Tuesday of each month for fellowship. And yesterday we all went for a Dutch treat lunch at a nearby Mexican restaurant. (Not really Mexican, but serving Mexican style food.) There were eight of us and we really had a good time of fellowship and good food.
I told the pastor we would not have a ministry, but would be ministering to ourselves. We have met and talked about many things. We do open with prayer, but after that we may not be so "spiritual" in our meeting. But eh idea was, and is, to uphold each other. We have a common lifestyle, living on despite the loss of our wives. Sometimes our conversation results in rauous laughter, and at times teared up eyes. But we uplift on another. And we are encourqaged to do that in Scripture.
