that was an amazing endeavor; but, once again it was all done primarily by the greatest generation of US manpower and resources.....
another great project (which should be revived) was the "Civilian Conservation Corps", started during the depression and ended due to the start of WWII .....
as just a teenager my father worked on a couple of these projects in nys, where he honed his skills as a mechanic along with way

my parents only spoke on rare occasion of that period, but they both spoke appreciative of those times . . . . . hmmm, work ethics

My Dad was called up for active duty by the US Army to join the staff at CCC Camp Steamboat in Oregon - 1938that was an amazing endeavor; but, once again it was all done primarily by the greatest generation of US manpower and resources.....

Wasn't Herbert Hoover an engineer? Just recently listened to an interview with a guy who wrote a book on the main difference between the U.S. and China.... China is actually lead by engineers ... we are by lawyers... think about it.
