The crime rate in Memphis is escalating to an alarming degree. To help combat the crime rate, Federal officers have been in Memphis and made a number of arrests.

Some city council members are in protest against use of federal officers to make arrests. This has the blessing of the mayor, police director, and county sheriff, by the way.

As to one protest, the attorney general spokesman replied "We don't need your permission to operate here. Federal laws are federal laws in Memphis as well."

Interesting to see how this will continue..............

Sadly the majority of voters here passed a law basically decriminalizing petty crime. The cops won't even bother to respond. As one person for the prosecutors office put it. "It's not worth our time" to prosecute petty crimes as it won't result in any punishment even if convicted.

The result of this is that small crimes became rampant. And as was so excellently point out in the past, if you let the small crimes slide you will slowly let larger and larger crimes slide. It's happening just as predicted. And who is complaining the loudest. Why, the same folks that voted to decriminalize crime.

It's absolutely a terrible idea to let the petty criminals roam at will with no concern of being prosecuted. It's soon going to return to the 19th century when there was a loaded shotgun or rifle behind or above every entry door.
In the 50's and 60's Dad never had a loaded gun in the house. By the late 70's and early 80's there were at least 3 loaded guns scattered from the back door to the bedroom nightstand.
I feel fairly safe in saying that the vast majority of rural homes have "intruder repellent tools" easily accessible.

We always had guns handy far back as I can remember. When dad went to assisted living it broke my heart (and his) to take his model 1917 Smith away from him under his mattress but the home didn't go for that.
I will say you see some open carry once in awhile now but I never seen it at all when I was a kid in our part of the country. (In towns)

edit - I'm joking but I do wonder how many federal agencies have officers doing police work? FBI, DHS, ICE, BATF, Secrete Service, U. S. Marshals Service, DEA and a few others I assume. I think they should wear identifiable uniforms so you can tell who is protecting us from them rioters and looters. :D

I believe Jimmy is wondering as I am what federal officers are doing this policing?. I was not aware of any federal law enforcement agency.

Operation LeGend has been in the news, mainly due to the Portland riots, for quite some time. DHS and Federal Marshalls were ordered in to protect the federal buildings that, in their infinite wisdom, our governor and the Portland mayor refused to do. President Trump then withdrew them after a lawsuit was threatened. OSP was then sent in but, they also left when the mayor refused to prosecute those that were arrested. BLM and Antifa are calling the shots over there, now.

It would seem one side of the political spectrum wants the country in chaos. I believe their intent is to foment anarchy so that things get bad enough for people to be willing to give up their rights in exchange for some semblance of peace, law & order. This is their strategy to gain more control. Leftists really annoy me.

I haven't heard any demonrats howl and damn about the "protesters" or rioters. Every last republican politician has.
That should give any moron a clue. It`s not at all about a lack of intelligence. It`s all about being unGodly, controlled and incited by demon spirits from leftest demonrats.
