I prefer my stainless - all black looks kind of like a glock wannabe to me. but I agree that the stainless will "flash" more if my shirt comes untucked.

Ya, this is the ONLY reason why I don't want black. I've had black handguns, you've had black handguns, who hasn't had black handguns? Thought the stainless was different. & I don't carry, as of yet, so won't worry about the shirt fly up. Getting ccw in cali i hear is hard. But I do side work as process server, hoping that helps.

thanks for help,

Kind of partial to the green and black SR9 I just bought. My first post on the Ruger Forum. Nice to be here and much to learn.

thanks & welcome!

Couldn't decide either. So I bought both. Stainless for my wife and blue for me. Still can't decide which I like better.

haha, that is awesome! Now that you have both lying around, which one do you like better? If you had to take one. thanks

My vote is for the black...

Rugerfan100, not to hijack but nice set up--who's the maker for what appears to be a grip cover (over the extended 17rd setup?)? And who's the light from? Thanks.

I like the black on black. (I have Black on green). I probably would have picked all black if I were given the choiIce, but my dealer only had the green at the time. I like it.

Thank you very much. I like the black on green. If I hunted more, that would be my side-arm.

hello

Actually thats what i wanted in my SR9 but my dealer only had SS/black but STILL its two tone

My local shop says the all-black ones are actually pricier (than SS/two-tone)? I still like it better and is what I'd choose.

A question for y'all. Since I've had my auto needs filled for awhile and only recently have begun looking around again (in detail)--and the "C" is looking might good on most all counts--I'm noticing the serial number "VIN" tags left in the white--pretty garish IMO, and wonder if anyone's done anything about? "Blue" over--or at least sharpie?! Really no big deal...but it is :-)

Mine is Black because I'm not a sissy. Only kidding, no sense in irritating a bunch of guys with guns. Just for the record the black guns are stainless with blueing.

I like the two tone. It looks "classy" to me.

hehe. You read my mind.

well guys, it's over! i ordered the stainless-steal two tone. 331 version. I really LOVED the black stainless, BUT I have a black baretta, & everyone i know has a black gun. I wanted to be different, the stainless was sweet looking at the shop, & i was afraid I'd end up scratching the black stainless too much.

i did dig the "black ice" stainless, but it was a little blingy for me, hehe.

thanks for the help everyone. I will post pics after my transfer is final here in the next few weeks.

I've always been partial to all black semi autos. No real reason other than the I think it looks better and I prefer the way that a blue firearm wears. It reminds me of a person in that the corners will start to lighten up at first. Once it's really old the worn (or grey) areas will be more prominent than the blue (or black) finish. That's assuming your actually carrying it and it doesn't just sit in a safe.

It just depends on your preference. I prefer SS revolvers. So there can't be much rhyme or reason.

Personally I have always liked the way stainless 2 tone guns look. Oddly every gun I own has a blued finish. I would like to get a pistol with a stainless slide.

Congrats on your purchase. I have seen probably more scratched stainless ones than blacked ones though. Got to take care of that stainless look you know...

Well, I like the less "flashy" finish on a "black" or blued gun, so I have the black stainless SR9. :D Quite happy with it thus far!

For me the black finish is the way to go. Black is better tactically, but it truly is a matter of taste. It's up yo you of course. There is a difference however, as the pure stainless slide is a finger cutter. Very sharp slide serrations. When coated, either nitrodox or blued, that creates a layer of finish over the naked stainless, hence, serrations are more rounded and easier on the hands.

Agreed, but IMHO Ruger blew it on the SR9C, the black slides are not stainless like the SR9s are. Finances aside I can't understand why they did this, the SR9C is the most likely to be used in CCW and would benefit the most from having a black tactical slide in stainless so it won't rust.

I am not sure exactly what a "nitrodox" finish is but if it is some sort of nitriding salt treatment similar to what Glock & XD use I would not be concerned about it not being stainless. I have seen posts on other forums about S&W M&P pistols (which have the blackened stainless slide with the salt nitriding treatment) with rust issues. I believe it is more problematic to use a salt nitriding treatment on stainless than non stainless.

I like the stainless in the full size... but I think the C looks a bit better black.

I used to HATE HATE HATE two-tone... but they have since grown on me.

I have the sr40 in stainless. love the looks.

I'd have to say I like the Stainless best.

Got the Ruger SR9 as a gift on my 22nd birthday and wasn't all that impressed with the Stainless slide. Would rather it have been all stainless or all black. However, not long after I got familiar with the weapon the two tone grew on me. I like it and prefer it now!

Soon gonna' get an SR9C and I'll be gettin' the stainless slide on it to match big brother SR9.

Stainless, because the wife loves shiny things!! Seriously didn't care myself but she loves the 2 tone...... And I love the way it shoots. Just get one u like and I'll be shocked if you don,t love it soon.....
