Anyone else watching Hunting Hitler on History Channel? They're making a pretty good case that Hitler might not have offed himself in the bunker in 1945.

Keeping in mind, of course, that this is being aired by the same network that has failed to find Bigfoot on five continents.

My wife and I laugh at that show. They have never captured one, never actually seen one in the wild, never actually studied one but...... they know all his habits, his diet, where he lives, what he does, what he sounds like, etc. Pretty good for never laying eyes on one!

In any case I doubt he is alive. He would be coming up on a 127 years old.
There you go, always looking on the bright side!

Its fairly well known that Hitler survived the war, and traveled to Argentina where he lives to this day. With special meds to keep him alive, he continues to plot to return to power. It is rumored that Elvis is in his entourage, and clearly Amelia Earhardt is his personal pilot, but getting a bit old herself (you don't really believe she was lost in the Pacific in the '30's?). As to bigfoot, many of us know someone who knows someone who has actually seen bigfoot. My cousin has a friend whose uncle by marriage saw Bigfoot in Montana last year, and went to take a photo but his camera jammed! The aliens among us, who travel in their UFO's all the time, are keeping the public from learning all of the above, but using the Internet you can find out the truth. The internet never lies, bonjour.

Hi,

I've heard Jimmy Hoffa's the last member of the foursome, and they all play golf together every Thursday! ;)

Also claim that ancient aliens used laser cutting and anti-gravity technology to help the Incas build their empire -- yet somehow failed to bestow upon them the wheel.

My late father-in-law was entirely convinced by these shows, always saying things like, "well, they said that Bigfoot..." or, "They said that ancient aliens..." I would point out to him that rather than making those statements, they always phrase it as a question, "Could it be that...?" -- the answer being, of course, "No!" Or, they say something like, "Ancient alien theorists believe...", which is akin to saying, "Your schizophrenic Uncle Oscar believes..."

We have a Avionics Tect that is 6'7", we call him bigfoot, he says his Sister is taller than him and he calls her Yeti, so they do exist........................................

I've pretty well stopped watching these History Channel shows. I've seen too many gross errors. As for Hitler, the Soviets had excellent proof that he was dead, but got a good chuckle from letting the West worry about it.

When I was around 10 years old a carnival came to town. They had a frozen abominable snow man on exhibit. It didn't look like any Ape I had seen in the zoo.

Bigfoot story of a sort. It was on my first ever elk hunt up in Oregon. Our group had permission from the ranch owner to use an old hay storage building as a shelter. The problem came up when some dude and his wife kind of got there first and when asked to move out got very nasty and threatening. Well an old barn ain't worth a shooting match so see pitched camp about a mile away. Still, payback was in order. We stopped by the barn on the way into town to pick up a few things and learned he husband had gone into town to get stuff too. We got our stuff that we needed and stopped at a local pub for a beer before going back to camp. There was her husband well on the was to getting three sheets to the wind and bragging how he'd run us off.
We got back to camp and formulated a plan. My hunting buddy was one huge dude and hairier than King Kong. Along about two oe three in the morning, we snuck up on the barn, determined that hubby has not yet returned and put plan A into effect. First my hairy buddy stripped down totally necked. Then from about 300 yards away we yelled and shout, Holy cow, it's Bigfoot. Then my buddy screaming like all the banshees from hell ran though one end of that hay barn and out the other end and disappeared into the trees. Probably scared that poor woman half to death. Dunno when her husband got back but we could hear her screaming and yelling about Bigfoot attacking her. You have no idea how hard it was to laugh like a bunch of maniacs. When the sun came up, they's broke camp and left. And thus endeth the table of the Bigfoot sighting in the John Day area of Oregon. FWIW, the elk hubt was a bust. Only one legal elk was seen and the shooter, me missed.

A few years ago Bigfoot was seen every year near Missoula, Montana. I believe every year the Bigfoot Bar near Missoula had a contest where anyone could hunt for Bigfoot in a patch of timber nearby and the first one to find Bigfoot received a free bear or drink for a week or some such time. Every year someone found a "Bigfoot" and received the prize. I hear that one year a winner that actually was the first to find the Bigfoot and it turned out to be his brother-in-law. As I remember these was some complaint that the winner had been been tipped off where to look and he found the Bigfoot too quick.

I've watched the show sporadically, but so far it's at least plausible. "They say" that the skull the Russians have is a female. ????....

Well, just keep in mind that this is the outfit that in the past few years has several times run a "documentary" about the search for Megalodon (a giant shark) which they admitted -- long after it was first broadcast -- was completely fictional, right down to various unknown actors playing the "scientists" who had all the "evidence" of the creature's existence. This created quite a scandal for about 10 minutes which dissolved as the ultra-gullible continued to gobble up their crap. " Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me"... a lovely adage which, unfortunately, seems to have few adherents these days.

Of course, several of the "documentaries" I have seen about actual historical characters have been in large part fictional, as well -- but who but a few old geezers know any history today?

As someone who studies and teaches history I find the demise of the History Channel to be truly depressing.

I couldn't agree more, Dixieboy. When we first got cable and had History Channel, I was thrilled, and probably spent 70% of my TV time watching it. Now it's hard to find 10 minutes of it worth watching.

But they are no alone in the race to see who can dive the fastest and deepest down the toilet. Take the National Geographic Channel, for instance... :(

I doubt hitler made it out of Berlin but that show is very interesting. It's quite obvious and documented fact that a lot of high ranking nazis made it to South America. The Mossad quietly And sometimes not quietly took care of a lot of them.

As I said earlier Hitler would be almost 127 years old. I find it intriguing though. In his position you would think he had access to a number of means to disappear with all kinds of help. Wasn't there story's that he already had doubles etc? Hanna Reitsch, a top female German test pilot was a loyal Hitler follower flew out on a Berlin street she claimed just before Hitler committed suicide. Read this lead.

We could run with the possibility's on this one.

There were all the stories about Martin Bormann vanishing at the end of the war, he became a modern day Flying Dutchman, often seen but never pinned down. All those stories about him escaping with a vast fortune to finance the Fourth Reich. The at the end of 1972 they dug him up in Berlin-where he had lain since 1945.
Very few high ranking Nazis escaped, in fact the only one really was Gestapo Mueller.
Like Hitler's vegetarian cook Constance Manziarly he disappeared after the breakout from the Fuehrerbunker-probably was paved over years ago. Maybe a couple hundred years from now they'll dig him up, just the Brits recently found Richard III.

Watched last night. They had him heading to Bogota by plane. Story was that once there they burned the plane and ditched it in a marsh. Hunted around to no avail. They were not deterred at the end of that episode. They left me in suspenders.

I believe the Russians have it right. The proof they offer up is undeniable to me. He never made it out. And yes. Stalin was obsessed with finding proof.
