Where do dogs go?

Hi...

We had to put our Black Lab down Friday. 14-1/2 years old.
All dogs go to Heaven...Heaven got a good one at 6:00PM Friday.

We are heartbroken.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

rich,

I just can't hack Rainbow Bridge. The screen gets real blurry. ( By the way the vigiliantly protected patented original in poetry is even more powerful.)

My first Spinoni Bert's ashes are going down with mine. Just in case there isn't a bridge.

The Last Battle
If it should be that I grow weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle cannot be won.
You will be sad, I understand;
Don't let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day more than all the rest,
Your love for me must stand the test.
We've had so many happy years -
What is to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer so;
The time has come, so let me go.
Take me where my needs they'll tend
And please stay with me until the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time that you will see
The kindness that you did for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.
Please do not grieve - it must be you
Who had this painful thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years -
Don't let your heart hold back its tears.

Aw'crap, where's the kleenex ? I've told friends, if you didn't cry over your pet, you didn't deserve it.

Ol' Hyder Simpson had it right.

Anyone who has lost a best furry friend understands.

Dog is God spelled backwards. As I write I have my two Shelties at my feet ( a brother and 2 sisters). One of the girls is my son's. Gramps is babysitting. I cannot envision a life without the love and attention they give!

I STILL carry a large spot of love in my heart for my old miniature Dachshund "Mister".He was a smart dog, knew lots of words and loved to play. Sure hurt when We lost him at 20 years of age.

I have always wondered about the structure of the afterlife.

Things like - is cat heaven and mouse hell the same place?

So very true. Our toy poodle, Taylor has been gone a year and a half. I still get misty eyed sometimes. The pup in my avatar is Taylor. His girlfriend, Shadow, joined him just a few weeks ago. Their bodies lay under the green, green grass of home, right outside our bedroom window.

Mishtub, is that an original composition? I have from time to time a need for it, but would want to give proper recognition.

Well, that was very nice.
Thank You

I skipped the lot, didn't need no tears this morning.

Ours usually make a bee-line for the mud hole and poison ivy... With a detour if there's a hint of horse poop or something dead about.

It is not original by me, don't remember who sent it to me quite a while ago. Feel free to pass it along. It is to good to not share.

Only a dog lover can truly appreciate the truth of this statement.

Reminds me of a Gary Larson "Far Side" cartoon from many years back; a boy dog, holding a bouquet of flowers, is greeted at the door by a girl dog, obviously a date, and he says "Gosh, Ginger, you sure look nice tonight.... and whatever you rolled in sure does stink."

I have come to realize that you can tell a lot about a man by how he treats his dog........................................JJ

That and how folks treat their servers when out to dinner. Better than giving someone a twelve-hundred question psychology exam.

Sorry to hear about your lab 375supermag.
