A member posted about this being his 20th anniversary here which made me remember when I joined and why; or at least what I was doing that brought me here.

I was spending some very much needed “alone time” the day after my mothers funeral. She had struggled with dementia and passed before her 70th birthday.

While lost in my thoughts surfing new places on the net I ran across this forum. First one I ever joined and by FAR the forum I spend the most time on.

You have a story to share?

This is the forum I come to the most. It is almost like a big family.... glad to be here!

I bought some Ruger pistols and really liked them. This seemed like a good place to learn.

Hi,

In a few more days it will be 19 yrs here for me. I had bought a Blackhawk Bisley, my first single action revolver, and was looking for some maintenance tips.

Everybody here seemed to be friendly, helpful, and came from such a wide variety of stations in life that there were always good stories, and I stayed. I don't hang around too many forums, but TRF is always the first one of the day when I do check in.

I was looking for a revolver and found a Ruger in 30 caliber carbine and was looking for info about it. I did a "search" and came across this and a similar named site. After looking around both I decided that this one seemed to be a bit more "friendly". They answered a newbie's questions without making me feel like an idiot. I just have stuck around and have had the good fortune to have met a number of members in person.

Join in 2005 Joined because I always like Ruger Firearms.
2. I lived in Hillsboro NH the Ruger plant on Sunapee RD in Newport was just 20 min away.
We had friends working there it just seemed right to sign on the forum.
Floyd took revolvers to work and work on them never cost a nickle. I will not mention
his last name for obvious reasons. ps

I think I joined around 2005-07 seeking information about my 77/22V. I was wondering why it wasn't more accurate than it is, which isn't nearly as accurate as I think it should be.

Still don't have a good answer for that, but oh well. I've really enjoyed being here ever since.

yes we too joined about fall of 2002 when we retired from GE,. the boys signed me up for the internet, MSN and logged me into God knows how many gun sites to keep me, down here in the basement....... I prefer this site to any of the others mainly cause of the guns them selves AND the people....many of the other forums the "inmates" run the farm....
Hey I just noticed all the boys have moved out ??? wow, and I been married for over 54 years !!! ( and she ,Laura , is the Ruger collector.....) 8)

Life is indeed good, stay safe ,stay healthy.......

My reason is bittersweet.. I joined in December 2007 after my dad passed away in April. I joined mainly to gather contacts and liquidate much of his vast collection, share his notes and knowledge and bring to light some previously unseen and in some cases almost unknown items. Along the way I've shared some Ruger stories, posted some rarities and I hope added a bit to our collective Ruger knowledge. I do know many of dad's guns are now in appreciative hands and recorded in Rene. After 14 years it's daunting how much "stuff' there is still needing adoption.

I joined a few days after my birthday in 2007. I wanted s revolver for my birthday. I remember it was a choice between a 357 Smith and Wesson and a GP100. The store with the Smith had trigger locks on the guns. You couldn’t even get a good hand hold of the grip to see what it feels like and they would not remove them for me. I told them they lost a sale and went across town and bought the GP100.

I was looking for information about the gun. I bought it wanting to put a scope on it. Which I did. I had just always wanted a scoped revolver, and think the big 6 inch GP100 is the perfect platform. I think I joined and then read a lot before posting anything.

Since then, I’ve had the good fortune to meet many of the members here. Not many, but quite a few I suppose.

Thanks!

I joined in 2008. I had just had a kidney removed due to cancer and had about 8 weeks off work. Found this site and never left.

I suspect I looked at this forum also because Rugers were about all we had growing up. Step-dad and Uncles never had a Smith or Colt that I know of. Only revolvers and rifles like 44 Carbine and 10/22.

Sprinkled in their rifles I remember were Remington Nylon 66, 870 Wingmasters, a Savage over/under and an old Argentine Mauser of some sort.

Nobody in our world could afford the high end big money guns ..... they were mainly tools for us.

I'd been cruising the web on traditional archery sites since 1996. I was looking for info on one of my Rugers, or possibly researching a possible new purchase and looked up Ruger sites to gain some info.

I'm guessing I was researching as I do remember I was at the test track in AZ when I joined. I often picked up new toys when in AZ for work.

Prior to the Ruger Forum we now know, there was another Ruger forum. It ended up closing down without notice or explanation. I found out after the fact that this is where the members of the previous forum migrated. So as soon as I discovered this forum in 2002, I joined.

I bought an early production model of the SP101 in .327 Fed Mag. Shells were hanging up in one of the six cylinders, which led me here during an internet search. And I always wanted a Blackhawk, and soon after bought one in .327.

Don't post much, but I do stop by and read a bunch. Great resource on everything Ruger.

I joined in 2015, after a day of deer hunting. First 2 Rugers were a M77 , .270 Win. & a 10/22. I was impressed with the accuracy of both. I still shoot the .270 a lot. Only 1 Ruger that I could not get to group. 10/22 Target. My 77/22 shoots so much tighter, traded 10/22 for a new PSE crossbow. We all know how good a Blackhawk feels in your hand, recoiling skyward with a healthy dose of 2400. I have learned much from the great members here. Thank you all!

As a 10 year old I shot my first handgun. It was a flat gate Single Six. 10 years later I bought my first Ruger, a 357 Blackhawk. Been a fan for 50 years I guess.
Initially, I joined the Gunbroker forum and Georgia Outdoor News forum. At the time, I had a growing interest in the Ruger #1 series of rifles and owned a couple. I Googled #1 Ruger rifle on the internet and followed a link to Rugerforum.com. That was 2007 and the rest is history.
I have learned a lot and met some life long friends along the way....

Was it 2007? Gee I can't remember. I became interested in guns after hurricane Andrew and I got a GP-100 and a 96-44 Magnum for personal and home protection. I later found that I was drawn to single-action revolvers and leverguns. This was a great place to discuss them, and boy did I have a lot of questions having got a late start with guns. I really miss those early days when we had a lot of fun here.

I was interested in buying a Rohrbaugh 9mm for pocket carry. I know, you've never heard of them :) While I was researching I saw a link to this Forum, though not related to my Rohrbaugh search.

My main interest has been Ruger Single Actions. I joined thinking I had a lot to share. I saw the amount of knowledge on this Forum and I was--

Jimbo, your humility is praiseworthy. Your skill and knowledge about reloading (among other things) has helped countless members, to be sure. And yes, some of the old days were "lively"... 8)

Peace and God bless, Wolfsong.

A little over 12 years for me, I joined because I decided to buy a 1022 DSP and found this forum while looking for information. I stayed because of the good folks here. Since then, a few more Rugers somehow found their way into my home.

I joined 8 years ago. Damned if I know why. I came here from a jeep forum that got sold. I guess I was looking for a forum that had open discussions of all kinds of subjects, not just guns. I owned more S&Ws than Rugers, but was open to all. This forum has open discussion of all things, not just guns, and it seems that most of the members are mature enough to avoid the attacks and disparagement that often happen on other forums.

I have learned much, and hopefully have contributed to other's learning.

Joined in 2002 right after buying a 6" GP100 to go with the 10/22 that my wife had bought me. I remember drooling over that little International at a Wal-Mart in Jackson Ca, on a weekend trip. On the way home, we stopped there again and while I was looking at it, her little hand slid across the counter with a credit card. Last gun my father ever shot...
So of course I had to learn a bit more about Rugers and here I am. I've met so many great people here that it feels like family. Great forum!

I joined after I got my first No1 in 2013. I'd had a Ruger since my wife bought me a Super Blackhawk for our 5th wedding anniversary in 1977, I still have both of them. Some of the best deals I have ever gotten have been on Rugers. The best one is like new in the box Standard Auto from stunt pilot Art Scholl for $25.

Well the forum says I joined in 2005, but I do recall losing hundreds of posts and somehow needing to register again and start over. So I don’t have a clue. The reason for joining was to get more information about my new Rugers. Most everyone was so friendly, that I stuck around. While I still remain a member on several other firearm forums, I really can’t remember the last time I posted on any of them.

2009 here, when I seen an ad for a free Ruger just for joining
I joined but never got the Ruger
Who should I talk to about that?

Anyway......
Got my first Ruger Standard in 1980 and never looked back
(owned close to 400 Rugers over the yrs)
Found this site and it has been a huge positive in so many ways
People, knowledge freely shared and offered, honest dealings etc.....

#1 forum bar none
