When did Ruger go to plastic boxes?

Picked up a 6" stainless GP100 half lug. It came with the ugliest case I've seen And would like to find a case or box but I don't know when they transitioned to plastic. BTW it's a late 98 production.

RENE page 296, Ruger began shipping all GP-100's with the plastic case in late 1995.

My 1994 P 95 came in a gray plastic case.

Be grateful to have a nice plastic case. The last three Rugers I have bought, an LCP, sr40c, and LC9s all came in cheap cardboard boxes. The only plastic case I have is the one that came with my P97dc back about almost 20 years ago.

That's the thing. I want a nice factory plastic case. The one with the gun is a Stackon that is way too big for it.

Don't know if you have looked but Ebay always has a ton of boxes for sell. Just search "Ruger Box" and they will pop up.

To each his own! Personally I like the Cardboard boxes, I also
like steel guns you may have my share of the plastic ones. ps

Think about all those cheap cardboard boxes Rugers came in years ago. All those silver/red ones especially. Not so cheap anymore.
