I saw a mint (98%?) Ruger Mark I, 6" tapered barrel target model with Micro rear sight & two mags (no box) at the local shop today, what are they worth? S/N in the 300,000 range, so mid 1960's? Had a bit of white paint on the front sight blade, but otherwise, VERY clean...
Thanks,

Oh, good, thanks! I was starting to get the hots for it, but if your price quote is about right, I can pass on it and not wake up in the middle of the night, screaming, two years from now  ...

You might want to check and see if it has "US" stamped on the top front of the receiver. Also check and see if the serial number has a "D" in front or at the end of the serial number. There were a few "RM" marked R.C.M.P contract guns made, serial number 300037 to 303400. The above would greatly enhance the value of that T678 and cause a few sleepless nights down the road.

And that's what I meant about rare or collectable. I was thinking there might be something to look for,, but I'm not as knowledgable on the MKI's as I am a few others.

I continue to see a wide variation in this area, all depending on actual condition and seller-motivation.

It's been years since I've seen any MkX for less than $150 even in cosmetic UGLY condition.

Seems like anything above 90% asking price is $300+ regardless of model variation.
