I need to know what size the front sight retaining screw on a NM Single Six with adjustable rear sights is. Such as is it 6-32 or whatever? Bottom line is I need a longer one now and need to know what to ask for.

FM, When you find out, please let me know. I'm customizing a fixed sight old model single six. The only part I don't have to convert it to a flat gate adjustable sight revolver is that screw. Kuhnhausen's shop manual is sadly lacking in such information.

I tried a little 'substitution' and found that the lower froward grip screw is the same as the forward sight screw and according to the Kuhnhausen manual it is a #6 -40 thread. Now all I have to do is find one that I can make the right length for the 'modification' I made to raise the front sight.
Use any of the other longer, grip frame screws and cut one down to the length you need........we do that all the time

Why not just go to you local hardware store and buy a screw pitch gauge? It's a hand thing to have anyway.
