I ride a Honda Goldwing with a built in GPS navigation system. For the three years since I bought this bike new it has functioned as it is supposed to, and within the limits of its antiquated input system (the screen is not a touch screen, you have to use the arrow controls to scroll through the screens to enter data). But the other day, in the midst of calculating a route to get me home, it froze. None of the controls would change the screen which was saying that my route had been 80% calculated. I had to shut the motorcycle down, then start over with entering the data. What might cause a GPS device to do this? Might it be a sign that the system will fail totally? I haven't even inquired with Honda about what it might cost to replace the software if that is the case.
