I saw on a web site that someone had a GP-100 converted to 41 special. I got an email from someone and this guy says Clements can convert a GP100 to 41 spl. I am considering having this done. Let me hear what you think. 8)

Dave Clements can do the work, and rest assured it will be first rate. And I personally would prefer a .41 over a .357 for most general use.

A bit pricey, but what custom work isn't? Its up to you, but I think I'd go for it!

Great little cartridge in a great gun but don't expect to get your money out when you sell. I think there just isn't a demand. I don't know if you can even buy 41 special ammo.

Personally I would like a 41 special in a single-action but the 44 specials kinda fill that niche. :D

UPDATE! I think when I get ready, I'll just look for a redhawk, 5 1/2" barrel. I'll go to some gun shows and start looking for one. It'll be cheaper. BHK

I don't know that the cylinder dimensions would allow it or not, but I'd be more keen on being able to get a GP100 in a 44 special than a 41 special if it were possible.
I think that would be a more popular handgun, too.

I like my 5.5" SS .41 Magnum Redhawk a lot. But don't kid yourself... that's apples and oranges. The Redhawk is a beast in size and weight. A .41 Special can be built on a much lighter gun. A .357 Magnum OM Blackhawk converted to .41 Special is a very nice belt gun. The Redhawk.... I don't just carry mine around on the belt all the time. When I need it, I carry it. But it's not a "just in case gun" around my ranch.

If you want stout level reloads, the Redhawk is the way to go. But if you would be happy with 1000 fps reloads using a cast bullet, the .41 Special is a sweet cartridge in a handier package.

Yes those have been made but only with a five shot cylinder.

The .41Spl should be a rather inexpensive conversion. Just a rebore and rechamber. The .44Spl is another matter entirely.

Reeds custom ammo has the brass and loaded 170 gr & 210 gr ammunition. Hummm, what to do! I want a Redhawk in 41 mag, TOO! I think I can get a caliber conversion for my Dillon for 41 mag and adjust the dies to load 41 spl. It's something to think about. bhk

I really like my 41 Black Hawk Bisley. I shot it yesterday with 110 and a Keith Missouri Bullet, shot the middle out of the target at 25 yards and rung the gong at 100 yards. I also like the rest of my big bore Rugers.

That's it now go to that special place in your mind where everything is just right. Day dream having one, and much it will cost, plus ammo, plus holster. If you got the money GO FOR IT.
