Somebody got up on the wrong side of the bed. It is poor manners (So I've been told) to criticize spelling and grammar. However, one usually tries to tread lightly when a newcomer. You both might want to back off a little.

chingonca, welcome to the Forum!
You are new here,,, and we welcome you. However, schloss was only relating that it's hard to understand how some people type things. Especially when information about a firearm is involved. I read your post a few times myself trying to understand what all you were posting about this gun. We will always try to help, but we have to understand what you type.
To be a new member here & open with insults isn't polite. We try & keep this forum polite & friendly. This Forum isn't like a lot of others, and as such we all try & act nicer here.
I'm sure schloss wasn't being critical, as much as trying to understand things.
Please look at everything written before you post anything.
BearBio has it right, both of y'all need to step back & breathe.

what blackhawk? Sounds like a nice Super Blackhawk to me! :D

Everyone learned the proper use of punctuation and capitol letters in school. Now that texting has grown so popular, that knowledge has been pushed aside, and it is killing the written use of the English language.

Welcome to the forum. You have an old model Super Blackhawk with new model grips. Most likely factory re-blued and therefore one can not tell. Ruger factory re-blue jobs don't look re-blued, they look like new guns. That's probably how it got new model grips since the original walnut grips with old model medallions haven't been available for years.

But if it has been back to the factory would it not be "converted"? Just trying to learn

Kevin,

Good question I should have addressed. Most people will convert OMs right back again after having them re-blued by the factory. The conversion does not change the gun, old action parts removed and conversion parts installed. OM parts returned with gun if still in safe condition. And many strip them out before sending the gun. The only way to tell if a gun has been 'retrofitted' is by an 'R' usually stamped on the bottom of the frame under the grip frame.

If it went back to Ruger it may have been after New Models came out, but before the transfer bar conversion was offered. In that case probably would not have been converted.

Or, maybe someone just liked the laminate grips, bought them and put them on.

Welcome to the Ruger Forum.

I noted the OP at the time it came up and had no difficulty reading or understanding the message. I didn't have a constructive comment, but after seeing where the thread was going thought maybe my little contribution might be helpful.

Sounds like you have a nice Old Model Super Blackhawk. Enjoy it.
