Ok so I bought the grandson a Ruger Wrangler for his first .22 plunker. Now I need to find him a western rig to carry it around with. Can someone point me to a maker or retailer where I can find one to fit the Wrangler ? For those who don’t know, the Wrangler is smaller than a Single Six and lighter in weight due to being made from alloy instead of steel. Thanks in advance.

If you happen to live in southern California and you were feeling brave you can take a trip over into Tijuana, Mexico and find some nice really cheap western style holsters. Back before it became dangerous to visit that area I was walking around the shops one day and found a leather shop and the guy behind the counter was set on selling me a holster one way or the other. It was a really nice looking outfit but I didn't need it even though it was dirt cheap at his first asking price of $80. Before I could get out the door the price had already dropped by $50 bucks. I finally bought it at $25. I don't see how they could sell them at that price. It would take ten times that amount just to make the fancy belt with it in this country. I've still got it and I used it in a lot of SASS shooting matches and it's still in great shape.

Shop Ruger has some Wrangler specific holsters. So does Midway. They also have .22 cartridge belts. That being said, the wrangler is not really smaller or substantially lighter than the single six. Almost all single six holsters will work.

If he's a little fellow I have this George Lawrence rig - fits a Single-Six. I believe the Wrangler is about the same size. If you would like to see it with a Wrangler in it I can get one with my sons gun in it.

The best ones for the price can be found on e-bay and are stamped US on the front. 25-30 dollars usually. Any holster for a 4 5/8 barrel single six fits a wrangler.
Just my 3 cents worth. The Buscadero/Western rig that Jussbad has for sale is a steal. Great quality and if it fits get it.
My rig that I use for SASS will fit small frame (32s) to large frame (Old Armys) short and long barrel Rugers. So a fit is really not that important IMHO.

I'm probably sort of a unicorn around here. I don't have any "western" leather. I think the last gunfighter rig I had was as a kid. They just never tripped my trigger.
