Well, I'm ready

Got the freezer stocked with 26 lbs of venison burger, 14 lbs of pecan nutmeat; and a garden full of greens (mustard, collard, kale) that we've been picking and putting up for the last month. Will probably harvest more pecans this week. In another month or 2 I'll be planting some early spring crops. :)

PS: And my ammo supply is fully replenished. :wink:

How much is considered replenished?

For me, I've a few thousand of this and that and still feel under-ammoed, given the antis in congress and the under-informed liberal/socialist types (and I've never gotten into reloading) I'd like my ammo supply to be in the tens of thousands, but sadly, I have to settle on a few thousand of this and that...

So, what I'm asking is what number of (pick your favorite flavor 9MM/45 Cal./5.56 Nato or ....?) do you consider replenished?

Our family literally lives on venison (we're allowed 8 each here, most through archery, the rest via shotgun & muzzleloader seasons - and we usually fill every tag), since three members of our immediate family all donate to the vacuum packer/freezer(s). (we have three 21 cu.ft. upright freezers)

$7.50 per deer tag here yields an average of 60lbs of boned meat.

That's $60/year per hunter ($180 for our family) to obtain at least a half-ton of venison per year - which can keep 6 adults in non-store-bought/healthy meat for the year.

We've been blessed, even though this year's total will most likely be a little light, given that I've been unable to hunt much yet due to my Labor Day surgery.

I don't shoot much, just enough to maintain my skills with each of my firearms, plus the occasional varmint/dove/deer. Mostly varmints around my land. And I don't reload either. In terms of weight I maintain around 75 lbs of various calibers/ gauges. In a years time I might go thru 20lbs or so. I don't pay particular attention to number of rounds of various ammo on hand. Not worth the trouble at my age. I just eyeball it and if it seems low, I buy a couple more boxes of whatever it is.

This is my "ready box" (which I notice I need to fix the lid hold down when I find that damn round toit). Holds about 40lbs of assorted ammo.

Much like you, I buy when I think I'm low, but also like you, I can't bother to keep a serious count.

A lot of ammo is a good enough count.

Two deer in the freezer so far, lots of season left at 2 deer a day, I can fill a lot of freezers. Just need more time to hunt/less time at work. Ha.
