We missed the first snowfall, have had weather in the high 30s - low 40s so far this winter. That ended last night. Still snowing pretty heavily, we could get as much as 10" the weatherman says. Even in snow country, that is enough to really slow things down if not stop altogether. City does main drags first, then residential neighborhoods. By the time they get here, it is all packed down from 4x4s. What a mess. Pretty, though, if you like white. :)

Starting last Thursday they were saying 6 to 10 here. Then 4 to 6.
Supposed to start any time now and new guess is 1 to 3. It's still 38 degrees.
Calling for up to 2 inches tomorrow but also high temp of 35 so …. As usual even the professional weather guessers will wait and see.

We had a little skiff of snow this morning. But mostly we’re having a good ol fashioned windstorm here 100 miles north of the Border. 39° with 31mph winds. I’m trying to work up the desire to go out and re-bait the hog traps. I saw 3 big old nasty hogs moseying around this morning when I was out there.

As of 3PM, north MO snow has begun. Preceded by a sprinkle of rain but still too warm for freezing rain. Forecasts are all over the place and inconsistent so all I can say is: It's going to snow and wind is going to blow fairly hard. Ground temps are too warm for early snowfall to 'stick' at least on grassy areas.
I have no place I need to go and just helped clean out WalMart of milk, bread, and TP.
What if?? I have a generator ready to run with 5-7 days of fuel and a 200 HP 4WD John Deere with a loader sitting in the new shop building.

Same here in the central Ozarks. At one point it was looking like six inches or better, but the weather forecast locally has been since downgraded to a maximum of two inches Monday night and Tuesday. It's going to be mostly a rain event for us, and I will say I'm worried about all that rainwater turning to ice once the temps drop tomorrow afternoon.

From about a Truman Lake to Jefferson City line north, though, it looks like four inches or better.

Same here Mobuck ….. doubt there’s even an inch on the truck. And it’s quit snowing at least for now,

S. E. Wisconsin here. Supposed to start here sometime around 4 A.M. Expected to give us heavy wet stuff through most of tomorrow. Up to 9 inches total and winds to 35 MPH. Been a very mild winter till now.

Stay home LOL

I've always hated snow. Nowadays I'm retired and hope for snow for my middle daughter and two youngest grandkids, enough to build a snowman.

I love the anticipation of it, and while it's falling. The aftermath? Not so much.

The greatest thing about Winter is Watching the "Yankee's " go through their Hurricane Season.

I would rather take my chances on the beach with a Cat 3 than shovel snow or feed a coal furnace. :)

"coal furnace" I'll see an old converted one sitting ideal in a basement on occasion... but heck, I hardly ever seen an oil furnace now days.

Just rain down here... predicting 3-4"today and the float switch on the sump pump under my office floor went out this past weekend and I had to install a new pump late yesterday.... old one had the switch incorporated in it....

We only had about 1.5 inches last night but holy cow it’s the heaviest snow I’ve ever seen.
Now the upgraded forecast is for another 4 to 8 today.

As of right now, I have @ 6" of wet heavy snow, and it's coming down gang busters. Probably get another two or three inches today. I'm about halfway between Des Moines and the Missouri border.

In addition, it isn't getting above freezing anytime soon, we are expecting another 3 or more inches on Friday, and the temps are finally dropping into the deep freeze. Saturday 9/-12, Sunday -5/-15, and Monday -5/-14.

It should make for an interesting caucus Monday evening! We shall see who's really got the most dedicated and motivated supporters!

We are finally seeing the sun. We got +/- 12" on our side of town. City is now starting to plow other than the major streets. Garbage man was supposed to pick up yesterday, ha, ha. Who knows when they will be out, tomorrow? Now it is supposed to get really cold. Predictions for -9 degrees on next Sunday for a high. Woohoo, aren't we having fun. Stay home, stay warm.

Up to about 4" on raised surfaces since daylight. Snow is melting from the bottom almost as fast is it's dropping so still only a couple inches on grassy areas.

What part of Missouri are you at? For some reason, I thought you were in the Bootheel area (fairly close to me). You must be north of that, I guess, since we are getting rain here- LOTS of rain).

We've only had a few dustings so far in North Central Washington (Cascade foothills). All have melted in a day or so. Got 2-3" last night but sun is out and rain predicted for the AM. Saturday predicted to be 9F, in the teens next week but no snow predicted. Rain on some warmer ( :LOL:) days.

Usually, we have a base of 12" by Christmas. No "White Christmas" for three years in a row now. Nothing last year until New Year's Day. Now our lawn is green and growing!

We have a belated birthday dinner for a buddy Saturday. He requested I make salmon chowder using some Chinook we caught in October with cheese biscuits. Wis me luck=first time making salmon chowder!

Then, two weeks later, a birthday lunch for three of the wives in the group (including my missus, Anita). They have agreed on home-made clam chowder (I do make a good one!) , also with cheddar biscuits. Made beef barley soup yesterday for dinner for the next 3-4 nights, using prime-rib bones and smoked tri tip leftovers.

I'm sure the soups will be welcome by all!

Where are you?
Be careful and keep warm!

I am really glad to see all you folks getting our share of the snow this year. We have about 4 inches on the ground around Bemidji MN. Hope to send our normal 30 below down south also. Its been a very warm winter so far and I would like to see that continue.

First storm of the season dropped 18.5 inches up here last Sunday. Tonight calls for another 3-6 inches followed by 2-3" of rain. 50-60 mph winds. Hoping we don't lose power but it will be in the 50's tomorrow. Flash flooding will also be an issue. Weird start to the season.

And we’re to get 1 to 3 inches tomorrow BUT …. Also saying it’ll be 39 degrees. ( ?? )

But then temps dip into the NEGATIVE numbers for the weekend …. Be brutally cold next 10 days.

UPDATE for NCW: 6-8" last night. High temp to be 6F, -6 tonight. A LITTLE warmer tomorrow. Teens by Sunday/Monday.
