There aren't really any bad sections of the Parkway to ride! Later in September is the perfect time to hit that route.
I wasn’t on a motorcycle, but driving home from Contender’s place last Fall. I drove a fairly long section of the Parkway.

That was the first weekend of October, beautiful weather and yes, hundreds of motorcycles.

I love going up on the Pkwy in the summer because it's always about 10° cooler. It was 77° here yesterday and 66° up there. I probably make the circle I did yesterday 5 times a year. It's only a little over a 200 mile loop.
My second favorite part is down around Boone NC. to Cherokee NC. But I love the Smoky Mountains anyway. It's all a pretty ride in that neighborhood. I probably would have to admit as long as the wheels are turning and I'm not sitting stuck in traffic it's all pretty.

Thought that looked familiar, and I agree the section of the Parkway from the Peaks of Otter to the beginning of the Skyline Drive is stunning beyond compare.
And they charge you to ride the Skyline Drive, or they did the last time I did that part. I have not been on that section in years.

Good therapy in the wind. Glad you got it out! I've been doing short scoots on the Valkyrie this week.
I love the Valkyrie. They were some of the coolest bikes made. Last fall I was at the shop getting a tire changed and they had a 98? model in for a carb rebuild, all 6 of them. The thing still ran like a Swiss watch.

Soooo... same place on the Pkwy today, just a different bike. I met one of my friends and we rode the Rattlesnake Atv trail off Rt 130. The trail head is next to the Pkwy so we hit that and took Rt 60 down the the town of Amherst for a refreshment. It was a fun day.
