Good point, but they came out right away when we called when we found our car hit and ran.
I had similar incidents as a lockheed company guard but the difference was some lots were in security areas where I had to handle the people involved and bring them back to the gate and turn them over to the waiting sheriffs.
Once I got a call from a gate guard that a car ran his gate. I found the guy`s car teeter tottering on a huge ditch. He was a well dressed dapper old drunk man. The sheriff's deputies were waiting as I brought him back to the gate and told me they had been looking for him. He had been on a trip with his wife, got a motel and then got in a fight with his wife and left her to go drinking. She had called the sheriff's dept to go looking for him.
I recall another funny one. It was a holiday night. Where we usually had several thousand people working only the fire captain and I had the entire plant. I had went to a outlaying site and got a got a call from the fire captain, "You got no gate!" Went back and found the main gate, about 30`X 8` gone! The guy hit the gate, tore it off and carried it about 70 yards into the plant. I found the car in a deep perimeter ditch but he wasn't in it. A little later I found him curled up alongside the street that came into the plant. In the dark I thought it was a pack sack or whatever, reached down and got a handful of his hair. He popped up and took a swing at me. This was about 03:00 (am). I called the sheriffs and they came and got him. About 07:00 before I got off shift, here he come in a taxi wanting to get or check on his car!
Evidently the sheriffs had to kick him loose as nothing happened on a public street even though he was as drunk as a lord!
