Volquartsen trigger for Mark IV

I'm curious to hear from members with Mark IV's who have put the Volquartsen trigger kits in them. I've tried out a couple of new Mark IV's at the range. I've generally been impressed, but the stock triggers are sure not the best.

One guy let me shoot his when he first got it, and again after he put the Volquartsen kit in his gun. He is very happy with the new trigger. Me? I'm not so sure. To be honest, I didn't think it was a dramatic improvement.

I added the Volquartsen trigger kit to my Mark IV 22/45 and the difference is night and day. I went for a horrible 6 lb trigger that stacked all the way through to a nice crisp 2.5 lb trigger. It was definitely worth the money for me.

No experience with a Mark IV, but I've put VQ triggers in a pair of Mark IIs and a Mark I. The Mark IV trigger mechanism is basically the same as it has always been, so I would expect a comparable improvement. As AzShooter1 noted, the difference is night and day, which has been my experience. If the one you tried was not vastly improved, it was either improperly installed and adjusted, or the sear/hammer faces were buggered up.

I've also installed the Volquartsen kit in my MkIV Stainless Target and, like the other reported, it transformed the trigger pull. A very worthwhile upgrade.

I read a lot of MkIV owners lamenting the poor factory triggers as if it's something new. It's not. Ruger Mark-series pistols have had poor factory trigger from the very first ones and Volquartsen had made a very nice living sellin their upgrade parts.

The Volquartsen trigger, itself, doesn't do much to improve the system, other than to provide pre and over-travel adjustment. It's the "TARGET SEAR" that lowers and improves the pull weight. Unfortunately, the sear can not be purchased separately at this time.

I'm thinking maybe the VQ trigger wasn't adjusted properly.

True..... I should have made it clear in my post that I installed the entire kit, not just the trigger.

I believe the sear sold in the MkII kit is identical to the one in the MkIV kit and since MkII parts are available ala carte you could buy just the sear.

When the MkIV first came out and before Volquartsen offered a specific MkIV Accurizing kit, one owner successfully installed the MkII kit in his MkIV and only had to bevel the trigger front to match the cut-out in the MkIV frame. There is a good YouTube video showing this installation. Conclusion: the Volquartsen MkII and MkIV sears are the same.
