well after the discussion as to which way ,this RSS was "found" and what it actually "maybe", we took 'Ale-8's hint and put 'er back to what it was ???( or was it really, or what it coulda/shoulda been....................

from this ( as we got it last weekend........)

it was the "notation" of this serial number that caused this........ :wink:

I noticed the pieces/parts for sale yesterday, but didn't want to mention it.

As you might recall, I had agreed with your original decision to leave it "as was" for an "Ohio price" and let a potential buyer "upgrade" it at his leisure.

It looks "right" now, even if the price just went up accordingly.

Hi Just curious if anyone got a ship date on this I posted some time ago about one I had purchased with a round ruger gate #61445 that shipped in march 1957 was the gate the only differance from type 4 flatgate to type 1 round gate ?

yes, the ship date on this gun was also March 1957 and yes, the
gate was the only change from a type 4 flatgate to a type 1 round gate...later on the type 1 round gates, they changed the trigger ( fatter) and the latch assembly nut became the "drilled through" ( slotted) type.You wouldhave to check with our 'RENE' for the srial numnbers of when this happened, I just know it was sometime 'later' ( higher serial numbers)

I will concure---- the gun does look better back as a flatgate with those good old hard to beat black rubber grips those grips are so simple and plain but what a icon when you get down to what really looks right 8)
