As I stated earlier, I would give an update when I received the new grips from Ruger. The new ones arrived today. I installed them and have to say that they fit much better than the original set. They aren't perfect but at least I can't watch TV through the gap. What would be great would be that they were 'solid wood' , not plywood/laminated.

I'm glad they are better if you can live with that. When they replaced mine there was little to no difference in them. Ruger like so many companies are cutting the corners for a bigger profit by cheapening the different parts. Your grips are a perfect example. In the end it's going to catch up with them. With what I'm seeing from Ruger now days I might as well reconsider buying a Taurus which I said I never would do. Once was more than enough for me. At least I'd have an excuse why it wasn't much of a gun.

With my xacto set and a drill I made the original ones fit, but, no one should have to 'modify' a new product.

I agree with you. I've had to make changes or clean up brand new guns that shouldn't have needed to be touched. Ruger replaced the last defective LCR w/a SP101 at my request. I had to put shims in it on the hammer and trigger. I re polished the machining marks on the outside and Glass Bead Blasted it before I fired the first shot through it. Most of it was cosmetic but I couldn't deal with it the way it was and I got tired of dealing so much with Ruger's CS.
