This morning the pastor had an unusual Baptizing.......two of our deaf department had made professions of faith and were to be baptized. Remember, we're Dunkin' Baptists, and it important for the candidte to know when they're going under. So, just out of view of the congregation an interpreter stood to face the candidate and signed the proceedings. And all went without a hitch!

Without a hitch is as it should be. Good to see that your church has made accommodations for handicapped baptism
We need more of the faith. I was dunked also.
Father in-law preacher used to do in the river

Incidentally, one of those baptized yesterday morning was a hefty black man, about a head taller than the pastor. But as he came up out of the water, he faced the congregation and raised his hands in a joyuous gesture, beamed and gave a silent shout. The deaf in the congregation responded in a similar manner.

I baptized my 12 y o granddaughter yesterday in their swimming pool at home, with about 30 church friends and family members in attendance. My son-in-law, daughter, 10 y o grandson, and my wife all read scripture texts that my granddaughter herself had picked out. I read Romans 6:1-14 before baptizing her, and afterward my 5 y o grandson led the group in the Doxology. Then we celebrated with soft drinks and ice cream. It was a great day! (Bob, this was in Memphis, BTW).
3 of my 6 grandkids are now baptized believers, the other 3 are still too young. I've had the privilege of baptizing 2 of them, my son baptized the oldest one.

Aside from my son's I've been to a few. The most memorable was at lake Okeechobee. A congregation watched as the pastor waded with the person to be baptized, and when the pastor bent the fellow into the water they both lost their footing on the slippery rocks and were dunked. When they got up the pastor said "I guess mine was just reaffirmed"

Yhey were under water 40 years?

Some of them I could have drowned sometimes. Junior High boys. Lots of fun and excitement. I used to tell the parents that if you don't believe everything the boys tell you about the class, I won't believe everything they tell me about their home.

I hope someone doesn't start a thread about their circumcision...
