A friend sent this link to me; Quite interesting

https://melmagazine.com/every-major-soda-ranked-by-how-unhealthy-they-are-adbf2f081f2a

I replied with this:

I QUIT drinking sodas several years ago and now drink "PROPEL" A NON-Carbonated drink:
ZERO Calories; ZERO Carbohydrates; ZERO Fat: ZERO Sugars; Zero Added Sugars; It DOES HAVE Vitamen C; Vitamen E; Niacin; Vitamen B6; Vitamen D;
It IS quite tasty, thirst quenching and comes in Black Cherry, Grape, Berry, Kiwi-Strawberry and I think one other flavor that I don't buy. Walmart sells it, $9.00/18; $6.00/12; One of the local super markets also carries it BUT at higher prices.
Try it, you might like it !! 19 oz/500mL bottles.

I should probably quit drinking it altogether but I still drink 2 sprites a day when I work. I don't touch the stuff away from work & we usually don't keep it around the house.

Years ago I was spending a lot of time in the company of a young woman that drank Coke like it was water. She got me in the habit of drinking a lot of Cokes. I started carrying a pack of Tums in my pocket because my stomach bugged me all the time. One day when I was broke I didn't drink any Cokes. All of a sudden my stomach pain went away. I had an epiphany & while I do still drink a couple when at work I don't drink the stuff non stop anymore.

Definitely better than soda, but they use Splenda as the sweetener in it. My taste buds
just can't stand that and Stevia.
I stick with water, unsweetened ice tea and Gatorade.....well, maybe beer.

I guess I am OK then. I am a RC Cola and Moon Pie person; didn't see either there. :D :D
Another NRBQ fan I take it.
One of the questions asked at a recent cardiologist appointment in addition to the regular questions about drinking, drugs and exercise was how much soda do I drink. A new one for me.

Water.
Simple enough. Need some calories and electrolytes with that water, try some coconut water. The rest is lab created junk.

I'm not fond of soda pop, drink a soda a couple of times a year, it's not good enough for me to get hooked on it...water is an excellent choice for me and it don't add 2 bucks to the cost of lunch...yet

Years ago my late wife's physician saw me at Walmart with a basket full of Pepsi. She looked at me, looked at the basket, and thumped me in my distended stomach. She said "You know that those are just empty calories."

That statement still haunts me......

I don’t drink Splenda, dislike Stevia. I do drink diet sodas, but limit it to 720 ml (3 cans) per day. Basically, if it tastes good spit it out! Oh yeah, any supplements will kill you, smoke all the MJ you want cause it is healthy, fried foods will kill you as will pot roast. I don’t smoke and only drink wine 3-4 times a year. I got to die of something?

Ice tea no sugar for me. That and tap water or 1% milk. I lost my taste for sugary drinks. Oh and a beer or two on occasion.

Our lifestyles are making us fat and unhealthy, need to change that. I eat and drink too much artificial sweetener but don't want the alternative either. It is a crazy mixed-up world we live in. ...and we have done it to ourselves. I think it all started with potato chips and soda. :D

.
Well, I've been drinking soda for at least 65 years now.
I am still a stunning example of a manly man, have
all of my hair and some of my common sense left.
So I'm good.

After developing diabetes, I have all but eliminated sugar-saturated drinks from my diet. I use a moderate amount of Stevia. I've cut way back on carbs, and, over 2 years, have dropped from 235 lbs. to 194.

There is one perfect way to quench your thirst...it's called WATER. The last time I had a soda was when I was in high school and that was a very long time ago.

No new news in that study, I think.
I am amazed at the number of people who pound down soda and the energy drinks all day. I know a lot of folks who absolutely refuse to drink water. If I have been working outside, on occaision I love a cold iced Coke, but i probably dont drink a twelve pack a year.
My soda of choice if I can get it though....Moxie. No dealers in CNY I have found yet, though.

I've had maybe 5 sodas over the past 50 or so years. Every 8 or 10 years I seem to need to have one just so I can remember why I hated it! lol

I rarely ever drink a sugar soda anymore, and I'm convinced the artificial sweeteners are even worse for you. We drink water 90% of the time, often with real lime or lemon added. Recently we've been enjoying the carbonated water drinks (no sugar or artificial sweeteners), plain or flavored as an occasional treat.

Maybe!

As for the aspartame question, yes, it will kill a human. Thyroid diseases are directly related to aspartame intake. Several doctors and thousands of dollars worth of treatment & medication taught my first wife that lesson.
Aspartame is derived from GMO-altered e. coli bacteria. Have another diet soda!

I drink regular Coke.
Hate diet anything.
I'm with you on both. I tried diet drinks many years ago and didn't like the
taste. In addition I got a severe after taste that would last several hours.

I look at it this way, you are going to die from something, so why not make
it something that you enjoy? I'm 75 and I figure THIS is the time I worked
for, saved for, and prayed I would get to. So why not enjoy it while I can?
ESPECIALLY when we are talking 120 calories for each one and
something that has NOT caused me problems in my first 75 years!

I'll drink my two or three cans of Coke per day and enjoy it. Besides
which, If I watch the sales it costs me seventy-five cents per day . . . MAX.

Hi,

Dunno if it was Aspertame or some other artificial sweetener, but there was a study 10-12 years ago which linked consumption of diet sodas using a particular sweetener with otherwise unexplained sudden onset seizure activity. I've known two women and one man who had such seizures nobody could figure out. The only common thing I knew about them was all three poured the same diet soda down their throats as fast as they could.

Correlation? Nothing that can be proven. But it gives one something to mull over if so inclined.

For myself, water, copious quantities of black coffee, and hot or iced tea, no sweetener in either, cover about 99 44/100% of my annual fluid consumption. Add a six pack of beer and maybe a glass of wine or two over the holiday season, and a gallon or two of Gaterade/Powerade on September dove hunting trips, and that pretty well does it for me. Never was big on sugared soft drinks, and the "sugar free" ones are just horrid tasting to me. Dunno if my regimen is actually "good" for me, but something will eventually kill me, and none of the above has done it yet, so I'm happy!
