Wasn't able to buy one until the next year - had to save up a LOT of lawn-mowin' money, but still have it:

I have my old man's ss (1968). I went to our lgs with him to buy it (back in 68!). Unmodified 3 screw in perfect condition, despite it having sent 300 billion pills down the pipe!

I bought my SS convertible new in 1969. Fixed sights 6 1/2" barrel. I paid $69.95 and bought it on "time" from local pawn shop. Because I was working at the drug store next to the pawn shop the owner of the shop let me take possesion on the gun with only $10 down rather than him holding it until payment in full was received. I still have the SS and shot it and recently purchased 1970 Bearcat last week.
