Trigger reset on LCR

I got an LCR last week qualified with it as my backup and off-duty gun. It's a great little gun and I enjoy shooting it.

One thing though is; I'm very accustomed to semi-auto trigger reset. After firing a round in the LCR, I slowly release the trigger forward until it clicks, then try to depress again. It stops if you don't release it all the way.

Can this be adjusted?

Not readily. Double action revolvers have to have the trigger return all the way forward. The trigger arc is a function of the leverage and hammer arc as to length of arc.

That is one of the few problems that get reported about the LCR. Short-stroking the trigger, as it is called, can lock the gun up. I believe the only cure is practice and developing 'muscle memory' to allow a full reset.

Common with all double action revolvers slightly more noticeable in the LCR. Just about everyone that has problems with the LCR was mainly a striker fired pistol shooter. Don't ride the trigger forward on the LCR there is a slight stop that fools you into thinking it has reset before it actually has. With the LCR or any double action as soon as the hammer drops get your finger off the trigger and let it reset without restriction. If you ride it forward more often than not it will not reset. Sit in front of the TV and practice dryfiring.

I think the issue is the trigger returns with much less force than other revolvers. Much easier to ride the trigger. I would estimate the LCR trigger returns with about half the force of the other double actions I own. Also for whatever reason the LCR seems to have a slight catch before it resets at least on the four different ones I have shot.

Well, I've overcome that reset well enough to qualify with it as a backup to my duty gun. I just forced myself to release the trigger ALL the way...

I don't remember my J-Frame being this way, but that's okay.
