got my new lyman digitaltrigger weight pull,my new sig target with match trigger ect 5.29 lbs. my new sr1911 4.15 lbs. how about that at half the price wow!!

There's more than just weight involved in a good trigger.
Takeup, creep, grittiness, crispness, after-travel, etc etc. I'd be willing to bet that Sig has a better trigger, even if it's a pound heavier ... only because it's advertised as a match trigger, which in theory 'should' mean they spent a little extra time on it. On the other hand, ANY bone stock 1911 (of any brand) trigger can hit it right with all the variables and be spectacular out of the box. If you got 4.15 pounds AND all the other variables are great, then you lucked out and got one that just happened to fall together correctly right out of the parts bins.
When I buy a gun, I always ask to try every example of that gun that the store has. You would be AMAZED at the variances between triggers (especially on 1911's) between different examples of the exact same model.

My Range Officer was a great gun out of the box but it still needed a magwell and full length guide rod to satisfy me. How is that an indictment???

I have short fingers and the standard SR1911 has an unusually long trigger - longer than a Videcki and its clones, for example. I told Leonard I'd like a short trigger. He customized an aluminum one, adjustable for overtravel, and anodized it black. The weight of pull and trigger reach feels perfect. It's off to the range this morning for a real workout!

Me too (almost that long) ... and that's how I know that 3.5 pounds for a 1911 carry gun is outrageously light ..... and would certainly be a monumental negative liability in the case of a shooting .... whether you choose to believe that or not.
I know ... I know ... you'll worry about that when it happens .... Either way ... OK by me.
Most gunsmiths won't even go that low for liability reasons ... I had to practically beg, and absolutely promise him that my gun was for range only use. If he hadn't KNOWN me, and know how I feel about modified guns for carry ... he wouldn't have done it.

3.5lbs would be good for me on a carry gun. My Springfield is 4.5lbs and that's not light enough. I'd actually prefer a little less than 3.5lbs but then again, I'm accustomed to 2lb triggers.

When it comes to carry ... I'll only use a bone stock weapon with a SA/DA trigger, and more than 7 bullets in the mag ... although I do make an exception for my P3AT ... otherwise if I think I'm going somewhere a little dangerous I use the G26. A three and a half pound trigger 1911 for carry ? Not a chance ... (for me).
For anybody else ?? Hey ... go for it. I won't be in court with you .... and neither will the manufacturer of the gun. Well ... they may be there ... just to say that you're on your own since you modified their product.

I've heard of little to no precedence for this fear of lighter or modified triggers in self defense cases. Just like with handloads, more conjecture and speculation than anything. I've conversed directly with Massad Ayoob and he produced no cases to support either claim.

to answer revhight , it was still in the fedx shipping box so i took it sight unseen,ibot a p238 3 weeks before and it was perfect, so i bot on reputation, by the way i shipped to sig and they did nothing said was in spec. they didn't even replace the chewed up mags, caused by a burr in mag well that i had to fix myself when i got it back.
