Trade opinion?

I put up a blackhawk 357,blued with 4 5/8" barrel for sale in the local paper.It's just the plain blue like they come now days.Got a friend that saw the add and wants to trade me his blued 7 1/2" super blackhawk for my gun + $100.00.Not a three screw but older model with very nice deep blueing.Both revolvers are 95+ condition.Trade or no trade? :?

Well, if you compare current retail or wholesale prices,, I'd lean more towards an even swap,, if I were trading.

I see about a $100.00 difference in retail price.Mine has the new rough blue.His is very dark and polished to the point you can almost see yourself in it.Good looking 44.

I always figure a fair trade is one where both parties come out happy. Others can give you advice but only you can decide how much you want that sbh and what you are willing to trade for

I don't think I paid but about $300.00 for the blackhawk if that.Been sitting in the safe for yrs.Wanted to start reloading one day and already have everything I need for 44.What the heck,I'll pick it up tomorrow.Probably no such thing as to many 44's anyway.

just depends on what you need/want. i would take the fertyfer over the .357.

either way i would just swap. no money.

I would do it in a heartbeat. I can buy 3 screw .357's occasionally around here for 300ish and NM's for about the same but a high polish .44 is worth an extra 100 in my opinion. If it were a plain blue Super then maybe only a 50 dollar difference at the most.

Put the values aside and think if the end result gets you what YOU want. It's not always a dollar for dollar thing. Sometimes getting what you want is more important.

i agree. They may have about the same book value but 44s just comand better resale about everywhere ive looked.

to me because I had issues with a SBH transfer bar hanging up, fixable but the whole redesign violates the KISS principle so I'll never own another

I have them both in 3 screw.Dont wanna part with either.They each have a different and very usefull purpose.To many the 44 is a bit too much.But they can be loaded down to a pleasant thumper.Does your friend handload? If not maybe that is why he wants to trade.Grab the cash and gun .

Trade, but as others have said.....do an even trade. If not, then maybe meet him halfway. It will cost you a heck of a lot more than $50 to step into a new SBH if you would ever acquire the itch to do so. Just mi dos pesos.

I did trade.Don't care for the grips.They're wood with finger grooves and ruger medallion I assume somebody installed.Barrel does not have warning,just Sturm Ruger and the circle with the Ruger emblem in it.Now somebody calls wanting to by the 357.I have another but I installed a super blackhawk hammer and not sure I want to sell that one.Meant to call Brownells today and order some factory wood for the super.
