The new TOKLAT .454 super Redhawk/extended Alaskan .
I'm not finding much discussion on these?
Anyone have any comments good or bad on these?

BTW, It looks like the ALASKANs are out there again in .454 on sites for sale?

I have one, but as of yet have not had an opportunity to shoot it. I originally bought it to resell, but the longer I have it the more inclined I am to keep it.

I picked up two of them when they first came out last year. The 5" barrel makes them really balance well. I like them much better than the 7 1/2". It can be carried in a belt holster also, where my old 7 1/2 had to be in a bandolier.

I think the TOKLAT is a home run for Ruger. I'm surprised more weren't made. The 454 is a handful for a lot of people. Don't count it out, but before you decide it's too much you will discover the Buffalo Bore 325 Grain Hard Casts they put out in 45 Colt will pretty much handle anything in North America and you won't have to worry about the bullet pulling and tieing up the gun. It's a handy gun.

No can do, available only in .454.

This should clearly be a standard barrel length. Slab-sided or not. The standard 7.5 inch barrels aren't exactly handy, quick pointing pistols. I know you can get your Super cut by a gunsmith, but having to have work done on a significantly costly revolver, when it should be a standard offering leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

That's the one thing I just can't decide if I like or not, the slab sided barrel. One day I look at it and like it, the next day I don't.
Probably would have preferred round, but it is what it is. The 5" barrel offers good balance though.

Technically, the Toklat's are not "Alaskans" - they have integrated scope ring bases, Alaskans don't.

I have one. Best balancing Ruger revolver that I own.

I totally agree, this should be a standard barrel length.
It should also be offered in 44, 454, and 480.

The Slab Side is nice, the Fluted Barrel is Really Nice. I vote for Fluted. :)

Count me in for a 480, sans that puny looking slab sided barrel. If ruger doesn't do it, I'll just have pay a smith to cut it down to size.
