Today's Gun Show Observations

I saw something I probably will never see again. The guy said he bought it in Tulsa.

A BRAND NEW, never fired, never even handled much , 6 inch Blued COLT Python, with box and manual.

They wouldn't even allow cocking, or photographs. $1900.00 they split the tax. I'm still in denial.
Hell, I have a blued 6" Python, with box, manual, factory plastic wrap and all papers. It's had less than 100 rounds of .38 148 grain wadcutters through it, and still looks brand new. I'd let you photograph and even handle it, but I wouldn't take $1900 for it.

I'll take the $300 whore, they can keep the pristine virgin colt.

I've watched the old collectables go thru the roof lately. I don't think the seller really wanted to sell. I already have a mint, but well used, blue 6" Python bought new in '79. In today's $'s it would be about $1,200. They're not making them anymore so... I wouldn't pay $1,900 for it and split the tax  I'm willing to pay a premium for a gun that has nostalgic value to me NIB with all the goodies, just did in fact with another Colt, and one that was 99% with no extras.

To put it in perspective, I bought the house I'm still living in back in '81 and my payments were $400 per month. I was told I was crazy. Hmmm.

I don't like the high prices anymore than the rest of you. Classic guns are going the way of the classic cars though the price is disproportionate. I'm just glad I have a few extra bux to buy a few old classics guns in 98%+ condition. Nostalgia is a powerful thing...
