It wasn't Helen, it was Mary Ann. I saw her for the first time in many many years in 2005 when we visited our old High School and lead the graduating class to the speakers area (outside). Each years graduating class is lead to the area by members of the class that graduated 50 years before.

Ed, out of respect to you I'll put the sarcasm in neutral ...

Hi,

Many of us--maybe most?--have at least one "Helen" in their lives. There were two in mine.

I'm afraid I see no need for sarcasm in regard to either the sentiment of the thread, Ed, or Mr. Fender. In fact, a lot more respect is in order, as we remember some of the words spoken at Freddy's funeral:

"On behalf of the President of the United States, the Commandant of the Marine Corps, and a grateful nation, please accept this flag as a symbol of our appreciation for your loved one's service to Country and Corps."

That's enough to say before the next teardrop falls...

Gents, I'm one of the lucky ones. I married my "Helen". It's been over forty years and I still love her as much now as I did the moment I saw her.

For those with "Helens" I hope that after Helen you found the one.

You are a good man Jeepnik. I never could understand the old guys with a penchant to reminisce about women that for whatever reason decided they weren't good enough for her.

Some of us decided that "she" wasn't good enough for "us".

And, I think, for most of us, it is just one of those "growing up" things that happened.

Some of you ran into someone good enough to let you think that.

For some of us, the intervening years, have proven us right.

Let's just say that for many many years I interviewed candidates until I found the perfect one. I have her now, but I cannot say I did not enjoy the interviews. :D
