My hope is to buy a 1950's Ruger centerfire revolver in 98% condition.

For a complete package, what should come with it?

Gun, box, shipper, wrapper and what else?

How to verify it is all original and original to the gun?

Thanks

Do you have a particular one in mind? There will be some variations depending on the actual ship date of the 'package' and caliber/barrel length. There should also be a correctly dated instruction manual and maybe a warranty card if it wasn't sent in.

Get signed up for RENE and keep the reference guide handy when you go shopping.

Good advice above.
You really need "the books."
John Dougans books on SA revolvers are a treasure of the info you seek. THe RENE will help you determine what you are looking at & for easily.
And as noted,, there are variations of items during the 1950's so more details on what you seek will yeild better info.
