I was sitting at the gun show today and saw a guy walk by me with his wool hat pulled down. I remember thinking I know that guy but couldn't think from. The second time he walked by I recognized the guy with the Lewis family that had 3 daughters and was on the show for the first couple of years. Originally he lived out in the bush in the winter and came back to Fairbanks to work in the summer. He retired three years ago and can now live out there in the summer too. Not sure how he lived but didn't consider it my business, but he said. It doesn't cost much to live on the river.
One thing I know for sure, is it's not for everyone.
Friendly guy, didn't have a problem stopping to chat. I would have loved to sit and talk and ask questions for a while.
Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is the location of the show and the cabins for those that haven’t seen the show. They advertise it saying the few families that live there can only live there until the last person in the family dies and the “cabin sites” will be lost to further generations. One of my favorite shows over the years.
