.....Is there location of their products. This last one got to me because it was so blatant. A snowblower was listed as in a town ONE HOUR from me. his meant I would have it for the upcoming snowfall. a few days I asked the seller about it ( I'll explain tracking in a minute). I said the place of origin must be incorrect. They came back and said that I was right, and that it was coming from a town 45 MINUTES from my home-closer.

OK, so I attempted to track the first time. It said it was at this hub or that. NO actual locations. Dead giveaway. Tracking numbers only give detailed information within their country of origin. I checked the number itself. It started with "YT". Post office numbers Don't start with letters, and usually start with a 9. UPS numbers start with a number and a letter. Like 1Z. FedEx regular home deliveries are usually a 12 digit code, etc.. YT stood for Yun Transport- that operated in China exclusively. The product eventually hit California (I'm in NJ), and was shipped from City Of Industry, CA to NJ. Of course it was too late. I made enough noise and threats that they refunded 50% of the sale, but still...

Just a week ago I ordered something that was supposedly in Georgia. I just tracked it. Number started with SPX, which was Speedex out of China. However, it is in NJ now, within shipping date promised.

I would say that this is about the fifth time. If they think the product will arrive before the specified deadline, why the consistent lying? Ah, well. Thank you for letting me vent...

Don't blame eBay when the seller is responsible for what seems like a lie. But it's not a lie. The seller is shipping from the US like they say they are. They're ordering then reselling. It's the same thing retailers do with all made in china stuff actually only they have it in stock when you show up at the real store to get it.

It's no coincidence the drop shipped items also come from the coasts. I ain't buyin' no snow blower off eBay.

You bought a snow blower on EBay???

I guess I don’t think of EBay for things like that. I used to sell old computer parts on eBay.

Wouldn’t Home Depot or Lowes have had a better deal? Especially for something heavy like a snow blower.
It actually was a re-named Amazon site- as I found out later. Two things that will bring me to violence- Bullies first- which I sort of enjoy because not being a big guy I constantly get under-estimated- and liars.

I'm still amazed by the carburetor (from China) that I bought for my snowblower about 3 years ago. For $15 it came with gasket, good fuel line, that suction thingie and IIRC a shut off valve for the gas tank. IT STILL WORKS GREAT and doesn't leak... I love CHINA stuff if it is like my carb (now, you watch, it'll start leaking soon:-).
p.s. my sincere apologies, but I can't imagine what a US-made carb would cost.

I've purchased all kinds of things through eBay over the years, including a couple of cars (although that was twenty years ago). I recently thought about selling some things, and I was shocked to see that eBay was expecting a 13% fee when I sold. The rate varies according to the nature of the item. I sure don't remember the fees being that high, but I guess I'd lost track.

I’ve been having a run of bad luck with eBay these last few weeks. I bought a nice Single Six cylinder that supposedly had no serial number engraved, and the one that I received was rusty with a serial…I got a refund. I’ve been waiting 4 weeks for a center jump seat assembly- the seller keeps saying he’ll get me a drop off receipt but still hasn’t. About to file for a refund on that. And- not eBay’s fault but I sold a 10-22 stock and barrel assembly that was scanned at my local PO and went AWOL. Making a claim on that…and sold another similar stock/barrel assembly last week and it was scanned at my PO and there has been no scan since. I see a pattern and I’m going to speak to the postmaster about it.

Back to the OP: I've experienced that problem several times. Seller & item is listed as somewhere in US but shipping begins in China or India. I try to keep track of those sellers and skip over them.
I try to be a careful shopper and usually shy away from those but still get snagged now and then.

The easiest way to sniff these out are the handling times and the item itself. If 23 sellers have the same item with the same stock photo, those seller are all likely the same entity and the items are being "handled" from China to the US.

I found that in a search if I specify "US ONLY" I do not get listings from sellers who pull this.

Ebay has been a major teat sucking promoter of Chinese junk and you have to be careful what you bid on.

Incorrect for all the reasons I already stated. "US ONLY" applies to the ship from address only meaning it's where that seller ships from ... not where the item comes from. The problem of this topic is the people here that wait for you to order then order from China only to have the item pass through their hands on its way to you.

Precisely correct.

Many things aren't as hard as some people make them.

I found some scarce mustang hockey pucks, listed as n-frame. Having bought some over the years that werent as-advertised, i asked him to open them up and pic the markings, he said he would, but then dident, i made a light joke that my xray vision wasent working, he got snarky and blocked me. Somebody else bought it. Coupla months later i saw something interesting, recognised it was him, looked up his reviews. The guy who bought the "n-frame" grips complained that they were k frame, not n frame, iirc he got a partial refund.
Had other sellers who ghosted me, and ebay refunded me themselves and no doubt took action against the alleged vendor as per their policies.
Bought a ruger bisley grip and recieved a refund and an apology, he had sold it long ago and put up the wrong pic. The guaranteed refund is a major reason i keep looking on ebay for the odd and obscure things that show up.
