Loaded up some sample .45 Colt 255 gr. Xtreme Bullets copper plated to try in my Alaskan.

Using 9 gr. of Unique with a light taper crimp since the depth of groove isn't much.

There shouldn't be any leading issues and if they work well for plinking will be cheaper than
FMJ bullets. All my hard cast trials have leaded after 6 rounds.
We will see this weekend!

They will be used for punching holes and killing steel. Glad that Xtreme has these for us .45 Colt shooters that
might need a bullet like this.
Had my .45-70 BFR out the other day shooting my 405 gr. Laser Cast cast loads over 40 grs. of IMR 3031 and the bore and cylinder were spotless !

Check the throats on your cylinder I read where a lot of the RedHawks have oversized throat and you'll need a 454 bullet instead of a 452 size LED bullet to keep from letting your gun

Yep...checked the throats and like other .454 Alaskans they are .455-456 diameter.
Tried some sample .454 bullets from Laser Cast and still left lead after six shots. These were .45 Colt 250 gr. loads with 9.5 of Unique powder.

The Xtreme copper plated bullets worked very well and have started to load those for the Alaskan.
